Everything was taken care of when we got to Siem Reap. There was someone waiting for us at the bus stop, and everyone at this guesthouse was so friendly and really helpful. I just wished that I stayed here longer!

As I said in my title, please consider that this is a guesthouse, so you get what you pay for...don't expect any luxuries. For the price paid though, this guesthouse is excellent! Rooms are clean, air-conditioned worked great, toiletries and towels were replaced on a daily basis and the WiFi worked fine everywhere. It is located in a quiet alley so you can get a good night's sleep, but you have to walk about 10 minutes to get to Pub Street and the markets. We don't mind walking, so it was perfect for us. Owners are very helpful, they arranged all our tours -yes, they do want to get as much business out of you as possible but I trusted them more that the tuk-tuk drivers along the street. Our driver took us to Angok Wat at sunrise and he stayed with us all day -from 5am until about 1pm when we returned- waiting patiently outside each temple we wanted to see. The only complain I have is that there is no elevator in the building and it is tiring to drag your luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Again, it was OK for us, but someone who is older or has any mobility issues should think twice before booking or arrange for a ground floor room.

Room Tip: No elevator, so choose ground floor if you have mobility issues

Sam So Guesthouse was a great find. It was our first guesthouse on our trip, we were picked up from the airport late at night, they had great bike rentals for all day use, good choices for breakfast (included), very convenient location for any and all activities, spacious clean rooms with air-conditioners and clean bathrooms. most of all, the owners were so welcoming and friendly, we would gladly recommend this guesthouse to anyone who is looking for a midrange guesthouse in Siem Reap. Sam So himself sent us off on our last day ;-) thank you for a great stay!

Really good location, though it is tucked away and none of the tuk tuk drivers really knew exactly where we were going so we had to direct them. Easy walk to Pub Street though if that's on your agenda.

Loved the free ride from the airport. So nice to be greeted and welcomed. Very easy to set up all your tours too. Within 20 minutes we had everything set up for our 4 night stay.

Wireless internet service was not great in the rooms, but that may just be our experience. Room overall was good. BRIGHT green walls were a little distracting, but not so bad. Spacious and bathroom was ok as is standard in B&Bs in SE Asia.

Staff was really wonderful and courteous.

Hi all,
Recently stayed at Sam so for 5 nights with my wife and 9 year old daughter and we had a great welcoming and goodbye they where so polite and helpful and would help you in as many ways as possible, there are also some little local kids running around who also where a big part of the trip and or daughter had a great time with the kids and this will make us return again very soon. This place suits all travelers but if you like the local kids there around, also great breakfast and food. The rooms are clean and for the price you can't complain or if you do we'll p--s off, awesome place we loved it and thanks for having us see you soon.

This friendly quiet guesthouse off Wat Bo street offers clean spacious rooms with a choice of meals for breakfast. Free pickup at the airport can be arranged. Of course the Tuktuk driver is interested in additional bookings during your stay but this is just OK.

Bikes can be hired right away to explore the area of Angkor. Free pickup at the airport can be arranged. Of course the Tuktuk driver is interested in additional bookings during your stay but this is just OK.

We did all the temples by bike a strenous but unforgetable expierence.

For really clean clothes check out the laundry near the sumo ringer advertise if you get out on Wat bo street just turn right. Very nice and friendly is also the " Mango fruit desserts nearby".

Absolutely unbeatable value $12.15 double fan room with breakfast! We cannot speak highly
enough of our stay at Sam So. The hotel is located in Wat Bo village, the other side of the river from the old market and Pub Street area - it is a 10 minute walk, we never got a tuk-tuk. Take the side road to the right of the temple (Wat Preah Prohm Roth) to cut through directly to Pub Street. We were provided with free transport from the airport. They take your details on booking through Agoda, but we also emailed just to be on the safe side. The driver has your
name card at arrivals. We had a double fan room on the ground floor for 16 nights, with cable
TV, good wi-fi, wet room with electric shower and complimentary toiletries (shampoo sachets, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste). Breakfast was served outside in a seating area opposite reception. For breakfast, we chose ham and veg omelette every day, this came with two pieces of toast with jam / butter and a banana and alternately mango or dragon fruit. What more could you want? Other than omelette I remember other options were fried eggs or sandwiches. Help yourself also to free tea and coffee. The breakfast hut also provides a great opportunity for you to chat with other guests and share travel tips. As there are families living around this area you get to see a close knit community at work and play. Mrs So is extremely helpful with arranging any tours and can advise an itinerary for Angkor depending on the length of your stay. We booked a tuk-tuk driver with her for three days for an unusual itinerary as we had visited Siem Reap before and therefore wanted to see 'less visited' temples. We also arranged our ongoing mini-van to Phnom Penh at the guesthouse. Despite some of the comments on here, we found that Mrs So was happy to negotiate on the price of trips if you think the price too high. We took advantage of the laundry service too. We prefer a family guesthouse as you are made to feel welcome and at home and get a more authentic view of the Cambodian culture. Along with all of the guests, the family invited us to their daughter's 5th birthday party, which we attended. The So's hospitality and generosity was overwhelming as we were treated to Khmer curry, battered fish, chicken's feet, cockles and other delights including water, soft drinks and beer. As soon as you had eaten some, the plates were filled again. Look no further than Sam So for you next enjoyable stay in Siem Reap!
