I decided to wait until the end of my trip to do any reviews just so I had a better idea of what to compare it to. It silly to rate this and compare it to hotels in North America. It's not North America!
This was the first place I stayed on my trip. I really enjoyed the location. It is down a little alleyway, making it feel a little more isolated. It seems to be situated around a few homes with kids running around, which made it feel a little safer as I think the families wouldn't take too kindly to people causing problems. Although with that said, Siem Reap feels pretty safe in general. It is walking distance to town, and the staff tries their best to make you comfortable.
The rooms are clean-ish. Personally, I approach all hotels the same regardless of how clean they "appear." I assume they are not. They ask for you to take you shoes off at the door. Which is fine. But I'm not sure I would wear their slippers that they provide in the room. I kept a pair of clean flip-flops with me so that I could wear them inside. Especially while showering. If you've been to SE Asia, you'd know that often the shower is just a shower head next to the toilet. So, flip flops are a must. The bed was decently comfortable compared to a lot of places I slept. The breakfasts were quite large and really good.
All in all, I have no complaints. So long as you keep in mind that this is not a 5 star hotel (and they don't claim to be), I think it's awesome for a budget hotel. I believe I paid $11 for a single bed on the 3rd floor with a fan. It was quite hot during my stay the first night. Apparently oddly so. But I found the fan was sufficient. With that said, I grew up in 100 degree weather, so I may be more tolerant of it.
I would definitely stay here again if I were traveling on a budget. Or even if I were just traveling alone.
This isn't the best place to stay if you are hoping to meet other solo travelers though. I went several days without talking to anybody apart from the staff.
