“Visit this before going to Angkor Wat”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Very educational to understand the Khmer people, culture, religion and beliefs through all the exhibits and videos, before visiting the temples. Get the Audio guide too!

“Well laid out and informative”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Worth a visit after going to Angkor site. This gives you information in an easily understandable way that even the
guides find hard to do. Good video presentations and nice airy surrounds

“Good Information But Overpriced and Somewhat Subpar”
Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

The Angkor National Museum is, as a whole, a decent museum, however I had a few issues with it. First, $12 per person is a little spendy for what the museum has to offer. Admittedly, there are many statues, however, they are very repetitive, not really offering a whole lot of new information after the first few. Second, some of the exhibits were very poorly lighted making the descriptive signs difficult to read. Third, there were many exhibits that were simply dirty. I saw numerous cobwebs as we made our way through the museum, not to mention a half built/destroyed booth on the second floor with boxes of trash sitting inside it. The exhibit hall explaining the religion behind the temples was probably the most helpful, the rest not quite so much.

“Not a "must see"”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

By all means it was an amazing museum, however the vast majority of its contents are things you can see in abundance at the Angkor temples themselves. It does provide a bit more depth into the history of Angkor but it's nothing you can't get from a tour guide or a book, in which case you would be supporting locals far more than this museum does. It is privately owned and exploits artefacts of Khmer heritage for profit, with very little of that profit going back into the local community unfortunately. By all means do check it out but it is certainly not a "must see" in Siem Reap.

“Excellent Museum”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

I actually wished I went to the museum before touring the temples. It would have given me a better perspective of these fantastic temples. There are audio recording units you can rent.
