Full-Day Banteay Srei, Pre Rup, and Ta Som Temples Tour from Siem Reap
Reviewed 10 April 2014

Rode here on bicycle as part of the 30k Temple circuit. All the Temples were amazing.

Ta Som was quieter than the others - might have been lucky timing??

This was a pretty Temple, they all were slightly different which was great.

Another temple in the Angkor Wat area. Interesting to visit on your tour of the various temples. Small and peaceful.

Since I booked a stay and my travels with Ta Som Guesthouse, they took me to the temple after which their guesthouse was named. It was small but less crowded, peaceful, even. The entrance has a Bayon-style tower with four faces but in a much smaller scale. Inside were the usual corridors, courtyards, apsaras, and highly-decorated lintels.

The exit, though, was most atmospheric - a huge tree has strangled it with its roots. Behind the tree is another Bayon-style tower with four faces. All of them make for a very photogenic scene that no one should miss!

After Ta Prohm we decided to see Ta Som, Ta Keo and Ta Neo temples just north off the main tracks. All three are beautiful in their own right. But two are very small and you need the right tuk-tuk driver who knows all the places. Well worth seeing.

We spent close to an hour exploring this smaller temple. It is a Buddha temple and has one of the most picturesque spot in Angkor, a tree completely overbearing the eastern gopura, a must visit for photo enthusiasts. The bas reliefs were in complete ruins and could use some restoration. The natural state of the temple made it one of the very few special ones and with completely no tourists when we went, we had the whole temple to ourselves ! :) You can club this temple with Neak Pean and Preah Khan.
