Another photo opportunity for a jungle tree shot... go through the small temple to the back and there is a tree growing through the temple. Not as impressive in size as Prohm but the way the tree has grown around the stone gives the whole thing more atmosphere

I've only visited this section of the Angkor Archaeological Park once, but I was lucky enough to experience only a few other tourists when I was there. You only need to spend about 30 minutes to adequately explore the ruins and it has that slight Ta Prohm feel with the strangling fig effect. Visit after Preah Khan / Neak Pean or East Mebon (depending on which direction you come), it has a remoteness feel and some decent carvings - some the same faces as at Bayons.

I enjoyed the visit and the environment and recommend others taking a quick visit too. It's definitely worthwhile taking the trip out to see this small ruin.

Rode here on bicycle as part of the 30k Temple circuit. All the Temples were amazing.

Ta Som was quieter than the others - might have been lucky timing??

This was a pretty Temple, they all were slightly different which was great.

Another temple in the Angkor Wat area. Interesting to visit on your tour of the various temples. Small and peaceful.

Since I booked a stay and my travels with Ta Som Guesthouse, they took me to the temple after which their guesthouse was named. It was small but less crowded, peaceful, even. The entrance has a Bayon-style tower with four faces but in a much smaller scale. Inside were the usual corridors, courtyards, apsaras, and highly-decorated lintels.

The exit, though, was most atmospheric - a huge tree has strangled it with its roots. Behind the tree is another Bayon-style tower with four faces. All of them make for a very photogenic scene that no one should miss!
