This hotel, built round a courtyard and swimming pool, offers good accommodation in an attractive setting at a very reasonable price. The top floor has a pleasant restaurant and bar. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel offers free local transport by tuk tuk to guests who book direct, as we did. Although it is cooler in November, when we visited, than in the summer, it is still very hot in the middle of the day. For $15 per day we were able to upgrade our free tuk-tuk to a car and, for a further $25 per day, to hire an English-speaking guide (we were told that the guide fee is laid down by the government, and that it was about to increase to $35 per day).
Having a car made it easier for us to visit the Angkor Archaeological Park for two shorter visits each day, returning to the hotel for a few hours during the hottest time of the day. Besides avoiding the worst of the heat, we also felt that a midday break (during which we could look at our pictures of the temples we had been to) made it easier for us to remember what we had seen at each temple. If we had gone directly from temple to temple all day, we would probably not have remembered one from next.More
