“Papa Ni Ni”
Reviewed 5 March 2014 via mobile

Sweetdreams Guesthouse is a wonderful place because of the staff! Manager, Mr. NiNi is the special ingredient that holds the whole place in tip top shape. Because of his attention to detail and his kind and caring temperament, this guesthouse meets all of your needs and helps check off all of your wants. It's location is good, far enough away from the old market (30 minute walk) and close enough to the river and Central Park (5 minutes) that you can see the romantic side of Siem Reap. The rooms are large, quiet, clean and offer both fan &/or air conditioning. Most rooms have a basic bathroom and a good old fashioned tv (DVD player is available on loan should you want to watch a movie). The restaurant is run by NiNi's sister and the food is always fresh. All kinds of people stay at Sweetdreams: one nighters, one month visitors and there is even a guy one who's been there for 4 years, and Ni Ni takes care of them all. Everyone is welcomed and safe at Sweetdreams; young, old, dogs and cats included ( personally I found the smell of the cats disturbing when going to and from my room - thus only 4 stars). I highly recommend staying here!

Big, clean rooms with working fans. You can have AC and hot water if you pay extra, but cold water was fine with us. When in hostels, I always sleep in my silk sleeping bag, but there was no need in this case, sheets were really clean :) We had our own bathroom but ffrom what I had seen, shared bathroom looked clean too.

Location was perfect as well, far enough to avoid the street noise but close enough to save money on tuk tuk and walk to the city centre (15 minutes walk)

WiFi was available, but quite patchy and sometimes we couldn't connect at all (needed it for work) .

For the 10$ per night (double room, own bathroom, fan, cold water) this guesthouse smashed it!!!

We arrived in Siem Reap from Bangkok without booking in advance. Sweet Dreams was the third guest house that we tried. We stayed in a twin room with air con and fan. The room was huge. Beds were comfy. Shower was hot. The whole guest house was very clean. The guest house had wifi, which we could usually get in our room. This wasn't a problem though as we could always get online downstairs in the restaurant. Nini was very friendly and accommodating and was always keen for a chat. The rest of the staff were also lovely. We originally only planned to stay for 3 nights, however ended up staying for 6 as we liked both the guest house and the town so much! We would happily return to Sweet Dreams if we go back to Siem Reap!

Room Tip: Room 102 was down the back and away from the street and restaurant so you didn't hear any noise...

We stayed here for three nights, our room was comfy, clean and spacious. The food was great and there was heaps of dishes to choose from on the menu. The owner and rest of staff were very friendly and helpful and we couldn't have been happier!

We stayed at Sweet Dreams for two months while we volunteered in S.R. Nini and his family were great. They were always happy and eager to help. Nini helped us with visa extensions, travel plans, and day-to-day advice while we were there. Nini really takes care of his guests and makes sure that they are all happy and have what they need for their stay. The house tuk tuk drivers are always friendly and will give you a fair deal on a ride around town. Our room was big, comfortable, and clean. It can get a little noisy because of thin walls and squeaky doors but it wasn't too bad.

One of the best things about Sweet Dreams (other than Nini and family) is the restaurant! The food is amazing. Everything is fresh, really delicious, and reasonably priced. We liked it so much that we were hard-pressed to go out to eat. However, when we did go out, there are several good restaurants nearby. There is also a market very close to the guesthouse so it's no problem to pick up necessities.

All in all, this was a great place to stay. Nini and his family are wonderful, the food is great, and the rooms are comfortable (and a great value).

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor and in the back tend to be a bit quieter than the other rooms.

Stayed for 5 nights and had a flawless experience. Manager (Nini) was exceptional, personally drove me to change money at the place with best rates in town after I asked where to go and was extremely helpful as he booked my onward travel and gave advice on what to do in the town.

Room was big, clean, quiet with lots of hot water and even a working tv with a variety of English channels (stayed in a double room for 11 dollars a night with fan). The mattress was surprisingly comfy as well considering the price.

Run by the whole of Nini's family who are all exceptionally friendly and speak excellent English.

We stayed 2 nights longer as best guesthouse we have stayed in, lovely jubbly.

Sometimes I am selfish and this is almost one of those times .. when I don't like to review my favourite place because maybe when I come back there won't be space for me.. but hey.. I have to let you know.. this is a great guest house, - its clean, the family who run it are so friendly - Nini the owner becomes your friend, helper, guide, advisor all in one.. and will happily sit and chat and have a drink with you. If you are looking for a spot for a night or two months.. this is it. Very happy here.

Room Tip: I like the ones at the back.. they tend to be quieter if there are noisy guests in the front at nigh...
