“most helpful Staff!”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

i stayed here for two days 7 - 8 feb and
- The Hotel was at a good location - a 10 minutes walk from night market and still in the quieter part of the city
- the staff is amazingly helpful , guiding you and arranging things as per your requirements
- i wasnt overcharged for anything and the breakfast was great
- the decor is good and only con is a lack of lift , which can be a bit of a problem for the elderly but i am sure the staff will help in you in this regard.

We arrived quite late at night and were greeted by the attentive staff, the lovely bellboy quickly took our bags to our room. We were happy w the location, it is a 15min walk to Pub Street, the Psar Chaa and the Angkor Night Market. It is on a side street but w a map everything is easy to find! I was reading the comments on here, we (two females) and did not feel threatened to walk home late at night even though it is off the main road. Breakfast was pretty standard...sometimes cold. Overall, satisfied w the stay here, really enjoyed the wood decor. Room service was very efficient (we nearly forgot to hang our sign and still got room service in the afternoon!)

Warning: Do not use the tuk tuk drivers directly lounging outside the hotel, just walk to the road adjacent to the hotel and flag down a tuk tuk. They try to rip you off as they think you are ignorant.

Good price performance . Rooms with Air Conditioning. Free WIFI.Schoener pool with towel service. Breakfast with baguette, omelet, coffee and butter with Marmelade.Getraenke the hotel slightly increased, but one can also shop in the neighborhood. Fridge in the room. Room and bathroom clean is cleaned daily. The only drawback: no elevator. When the 4th Stock lives, stair training is called for.

Its a budget friendly , value for money hotel for a family. It is very close to the old market and night market/ pub street. There are few good restaurants around (Viroth's, FCC). Food at the hotel is also quite good and mid priced. Breakfast is a mix of western and asian menu. The pool is clean and one can relax by the poolside. Rooms are comfortable but can be noisy if next to the restaurant or overlooking the restaurant. There was very tepid water in the shower. And when we pointed it out, we were told temp is set and cannot be altered. Staff at the front desk is helpful. They would arrange for tuk tuks or taxi for sight seeing/ city trip. However tuk tuks are available outside too and cost less. Interiors are done in wood and add colonial charm.

Room Tip: Choose rooms with poolside view but not next or adjacent to the restaurant. I think the rooms are on...

We spent 5 nights here and I can not for the life of me figure out why this hotel has got the certificate of excellence from Tripadvisor?
The building itself is impressive in the French Colonial style with wall to wall timber and a lovely staircase. The pool is large and in a shaded courtyard with sun lounges and opens into the restaurant. The hotel is in a good location, being walking distance to Pub Street, the markets and across the road from where the mini vans from Phnom Penh arrive. This however Is all I can say is pleasing about this hotel.
We had booked a deluxe room which was on the 5th floor with no lift. In the scheme of things that is nothing to complain about as we could do with the exercise, however if you are elderly or infirm you will finds this extremely tough going. The room was spacious but basic and the bathroom was abysmal with intermittent hot water which spilled everywhere and soaked everything every time you took a shower.
The bed is like sleeping on concrete and the way they make it up there is no top sheet, you sleep directly under the blanket with the top sheet used as the bed spread. In the 5 days we were there, I didn't see any blankets on the cleaning staff's trolleys and none were stripped from beds when rooms were vacated. This practice is just unacceptable in anyones language and needless to say when they made up the bed, we reversed the order so we slept under the clean sheet, not the blanket.
If you don't put the "Please make up my room" sign on the door, it won't get done! This happened twice to us and dirty cups and dishes from leftover food we had ordered stayed in our room until we placed the sign out?
The staff are not helpful and you get the feeling they are only friendly because they have to be, there is of course a few exceptions but we did not feel welcomed or looked after.
My husband became ill on New Years Eve and I phoned down to reception to ask for another blanket as he was running hot and cold with a fever, we were told there were no spare blankets or pillows in the hotel and even though I explained that he was ill, they were quite unconcerned with finding an alternative solution. We also asked for ice which they couldn't provide either. When we asked if we could have some laundering done, we were told we had to take it down to reception, they would not come and collect it. So down the 5 flights of stairs and back again we went!
The breakfast is terrible and if you are not down there for 6.30am it will be cold and very, very ordinary. After the first day of eating it, we decided we could get better food from a street stall around the corner, which we did for the remainder of our stay.
We are not complainers and have stayed in many, many cheap and cheerful hotels all over the world. This hotel however is just cheap, there is nothing cheerful about it.
Do yourselves a favour and stay somewhere else, everything about this hotel needs refurbishing!

We are a family of 5 with 3 children (12 / 10 and 5) and booked 2 rooms (for 4 nights) since the family one was full. We asked to be side by side which was confirmed at the time of the booking (directly with the hotel). Upon our arrival, only 1 room was ready and were told that the other one would be so after our dinner. Upon our return, a room was ready but not next to the first one. Even worse, we were not on the same floor. The second night and the rest we went back to the same floor but not side by side.
The hotel and the rooms itself need to be redone. Beds are OK but sheets are too shorts. Furthermore they set up the blankets under the bed sheets !! I am not sure it is totally clean. We had to re-do our bed each night.
Outlook: most of the walls are cracked, ceiling in the common area is falling apart (4th floor). Bathroom are not 100% clean (we had some non removable stain of something on the bottom of our bathtub and worst, no hot water in the morning (it was cold in December),
Breakfast is simple but strange, all the omelettes and fried eggs are cooked in advance and kept on a dish (not heated)... I wonder why.
The only positive point is the swimming pool and the price ratio for what we get. Staff is also nice and always try to find solution.
About the location, it is in a quite area, next to a convenient store and within walking distance of "good" restaurants.

we spent 3 nights there, the hotel is at walking distance from old market area, easy to reach angkor temples by tuk tuk.
the hotel is nice, the room was clean even if you can see it is quite old and probably needs a bit of renovation, there is free wifi, hot water, air conditioning.
the bigger con of the room was that the shower is on the bathroom, not in a box, so after you take a shower there is water everywhere. not a big deal anyway..!
the staff is very very kind and helpful with travel arrangement.
in my opinion the service is the value of this hotel.
