“simply perfect”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We went this place for dinner and then for drinks by the pool in the afternoon. From the team and the owner, to the place and the food it was just perfect. The food is delicious and very good value for the money. And by night it s just so romantic.... dining in a marvelous garden. Unique.
By day, you can come with your swimsuit and just relax with a drink by the pool.
A must in Siem Reap.

“Favourite meal in Siem Reap”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Our favourite meal we had in Siem Reap! Gorgeous setting in a lush garden. Our table for two was under a pergola with plants around three sides, very pretty.

The food was a mix of French, Asian, and Khmer. I ordered some kind of Khmer stew and it was delicious. Like other reviewers have said, excellent service as well!

“great food, good service, friendly people. thanks.”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Overall great experience in this lovely restaurant. The menu is well balanced with French and Cambodian traditional and more adventurous dishes. Prices are fair seen the setting and excellent service. Make sure to arrange transport for the way back though. Thanks guys.

“Service above and beyond”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We arrived late at night due to a delayed flight, with three starving and tired kids. Our hotel could not serve us food and so they recommended Kanell. Although due to the lateness of the hour and the tired kids we couldn't really relax and enjoy the meal, the service was outstanding and the food we rushed down was also good. The owners quickly summed up the situation and made sure we were able to order, eat and settle the bill in short order. When the first taxi we hailed at the end of night did not know the address of our hotel, the owners insisted on driving us back. It is rare to see such a level of service - these simple moments of attentiveness go a long way so I am happy to give Kanell the top rating - thank you! We will go back to Kanell next time we visit Siem Reap and take some more time to enjoy the relaxing outdoor setting and the charming hospitality of the hosts.

“Lovely evening”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

The TA "near me now" app on my iPhone has the location of this excellent restaurant very wrong. Thinking it was a few hundred meters from our hotel we walked to where it was meant to be. Fortunately a nearby tuk-tuk driver convinced us it was across town and across the river (2 or 3 k's maybe) from where we were. He took us and waited to take us back for $5 so all was well.

Lovely garden setting with individual thatched roof with overhead fan dining areas spread around, and a larger dining area as well. We were maybe 35 meters from the next table.

Service was impeccable; a bit like Italy where you have no sense anyone is hovering, but as soon as you look hesitant about something, someone materializes.

The menu is not large, but eclectic for both French and Asian options. I usually take that to mean the chef takes pride in everything being offered. We very much enjoyed our choices. None were brilliant, but all were very good. Remarkable wine prices for what is a very upscale place, with particularly good value on Chilean selections I thought.

Highly recommended.
