“More privacy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

I stayed at La Tradition Dangkor last two week ago. We stayed at 2nd floor. Our room is very big and wooden furniture.

It is small hotel with own character and specially I feel more privacy than other hotel. Staff is very friendly and breakfast also have more option. Sometimes we have our own pool (because other tourist went on tours).

Only one problem we had was a shower, sometime water came out hot and sometimes cold which we felt little bit disturb, but the rest are excellent.

Room Tip: I didnt use Fitness center and Spa so I do not know have idea about this. I would recommend to stay...

We stayed on the third floor (Top floor), and there was a noisy compressor that cycled on and off 24/7 - it would, I imagine, affect all rooms on that floor. The room had quality finishes, but the safe was too small to take an Ipad. There was also an annoying step down from the room into the bathroom. It was nice to have free wifi.

Generally agree with "Alternate Routes" review - a really lovely place to relax and recover.

Quiet location with beautiful gardens, pool and buildings. We were wonderfully looked after and would go back at the drop of a hat.

We stayed a week, with days relaxing in between sight seeing and this was the perfect place to do it. Breakfasts are great - try the Asian options to really set you up for an arduous day's temple-clambouring, lunches by the pool were excellent, and dinners were romantic and peaceful. Our room was lovely, if a little noisy in the mornings as the cleaners moved chairs to clean.

Good points - large, airy rooms, comfortable beds, well-stocked and efficient bathrooms, loads of staff and efficient and excellent management. They couldn't do enough for us.

Room to improve - chairs need felt pads underneath, some staff struggled with my English with a Scottish accent, laundry and drinks could be expensive, and it is out of town (i.e. for us, an advantage, it's incredibly peaceful!)

A really lovely experience : you know you're not in a chain, they take really good care of you. Stay a bit longer and relax - you'll leave feeling 5 years' younger!

Room Tip: We had Room 301 (top corner) which has lots of windows, which is nice. The corner rooms are bigger...

Spent 3 nights at the Tradition d'Angkor with their "Massage treatment package" costing USD 168, which included: 3 nights stay in Deluxe Room, breakfasts, round trip airport transfer, two hours spa treatment, one dinner for two, welcome drink (some refreshing coconut water) & tropical fruits upon arrival.

Since we were arriving from Phnom Penh, we requested pick-up from the bus station instead of the airport. We are glad we did, because the bus 'station' is in the middle of nowhere and one would not want to linger for too long over there at night.

Our room was big, comfortable and decorated in traditional style. A fruit platter was waiting for us. Only negatives were: 1. Housekeeping had forgotten to remove trash from the previous occupants, 2.the room was quite dark with almost no natural light, and 3. there were a few flies in the bathroom.

This hotel is quite far from the center of Siem Reap (since it is quite new, it does not appear on many maps, so search for Empress ANgkor hotel, and the Tradition is on a nearby side street), but we spent only one afternoon and evening in Siem Reap town, so this was not a problem as we took a Tuktuk into town, then used the free hotel shuttle to return at 9p.m.

The massage included in our package was average. The next evening, tired after touring the temples, we decided to have another massage. We had the same masseuses but this time they were really into their work and we enjoyed the massage. The tips we gave them on our first evening surely had a big impact on their motivation..

Breakfast could have been better; heavy on carbs/fats, light on veggies/protein. The fruits were delicious, but the fruit juices were sadly some sorts of flavored syrups. Service was overly attentive. Since there were about a dozen guests staying at the time, we were at most 4 guests having breakfast, so the waiters were just standing and staring at us eating.

We had dinner one evening and it was pathetic. We waited 45 minutes to receive our main dish. The Papaya salad had way too much fish sauce. Our desserts had been warmed up in the microwave and the inside was still frozen.

Overall, we were happy with the package and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't waste your money on dinner at the hotel.

Great quality at very reasonable price. Rooms big, clean and comfortable. Terrific swimming pool to enjoy after a whole day visiting the temples including free wireless everywhere.
The hotel looks complete new, with just 29 rooms, not in the center of the city and therefore an oasis of silence. You can go everywhere by tuktuk without any problem and they offer a shuttlebus in the afternoons to visit Siem Reap's downtown.
The staff si very friendly and nice.
Only two things avoid the 5th star in my rating: Few natural light in the rooms and lack of elevator.

Room Tip: Despite of having only three levels, If you care about stairs up and down, ask for a room in the gro...

Even that the location was out of center, you can get anywhere by tuk tuk immediately, just by one buck per person. Servis excelent, to relax by pool day or night looks like a fairy tale. Definetly recomend for stay if you are looking for a quiet place out of the center.

I just visited Siem Reap for six nights for the Angkor Photo Festival. I chose this hotel because of the good reviews from Trip Advisor. The hotel itself was nice, clean and homely as other reviewers have mentioned. And I think that if the main reason for visiting Siem Reap was to see the temples and ruins, then this hotel is not a bad choice. The room was spacious, the breakfast was decent and the staff are nice. But there is only two shuttle services into town at 6pm and 8.30pm and one return shuttle at 9pm from Siem Reap. The tuk tuk rides into and out of Siem Reap average US$3.5 each way. As I was going to and from Siem Reap to see exhibitions and evening slideshows, I ended up spending quite a lot of money on transport. And there is always haggling with each tuk tuk driver. So for me, it was not the ideal hotel.

On the plus side, I had a pretty decent massage. The masseur comes from their sister hotel, the Empress Angkor.

And if you are in the hotel, then it is worth the effort to try a meal at ME-MAD eatery.
