Hak and his staff were really helpful with organising our trip to the Angkor temples, the landmine museum and our bus to Phnom Penh. The free breakfast is a big bonus, and the rest of the food is cheap and tasty if you can't face the walk into town at the end of a long day at Angkor! Having said that the 20min walk wasn't a problem any other time. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The room was ok if you're not too fussy, and the AC worked fine. As someone else has said, the last room on the right on the 3rd floor is a nightmare to lock/unlock so maybe try and avoid that one. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: The twin beds are huge!

We spent 5 nights at Hak's House and couldn't fault it. We booked online and turned up to a clean, spacious and well priced double room. The price included a simple but sufficient egg & baguette breakfast.
Free wifi was working all the time and Hak organised bikes for us at a fantastic $1 per day.
The staff were superb and Hak was always around to give advice, answer questions and just say a friendly 'hello'.
The guesthouse is about a 5min cycle into the town centre, but it's nice to be situated out of town a bit and have a reason for a bike ride.
All in all, fantastic value for money - I'd most definitely recommend staying here!

+ Good sized room and comfy double bed.
+ Very good service from Hak and his brother (i think) who prepared our breakfast ready for us to leave at 4.30am to see the Angkor Temples.

- The shower was didn't work very well at all. Instead of water coming out of the shower head it came out of the bath tap!
- Although advertised with a safe, there was not one in the room
- Air con was terrible!
- We booked a tuk tuk for pick up at 4.30am to see the temples but it didnt arrive until 5am, by which point we had already flagged another tuk tuk down.

All in all, a average hotel to stay in... Quite a lengthy walk to pub st/night markets tho

Yes it is a little bit out of town but its really only a 10/15 minute walk, a bit of exercise won't kill you! It was nice to get back and be quiet and get a good nights sleep. We had a double room at the back of the building.

Breakfast was decent, bit of a different selection than we'd had recently so was nice, staff were always friendly and happy to help. Small things like getting glasses of ice for our drinks! Arranged a Tuk Tuk for 1 day at the temples as we didn't want to ride on the sunrise day. The other 2 days we rode in, nice and easy ride even if we didn't feel too great on the final day.

We ate dinner there, for $2 you can't complain at all, filling and tasty! WiFi didn't work in the room which was a bit annoying, but no big issue as was always room to sit downstairs out the front! Rooms weren't cleaned when we were there, but then you don't clean your bathroom at home every day and we just didn't make a mess, simple really isn't it.

I traveled to Siem Reap to August 2012 alone as a female traveler. After reading reviews I decided to stay at Haks House. This place was great, I had my own room, air con, bathroom, free Wifi and the best free breakfast every morning. The staff at Haks House were very helpful organising Tok Toks to get into town, Ankor Wat and surrounds.

Haks House is a little outside of the main town so you need to get a Tok Tok into town each time although it is $1 US each way which is very affordable.

Love this place would go back again if I'm ever in Siem Reap.

The hotel was able to deliver everything that it has promised. We were greeted by a tuk-tuk driver (who eventually became our tour guide for our two day stay at Siem Reap because he was honest and nice) commissioned by the guest house even if our flight got delayed and we arrived late in the evening. Mr. Hak personally welcomed us upon arrival at the place. Our room had two big twin beds, cable television, free (strong) wifi and good air-conditioning. The sheets were clean-ish and the bathroom was wet, this is the part of getting what you paid for.

Over-all I would recommend this guest house for back packers who are not too nit-picky on details about cleanliness. It is a good place to stay especially if you are on a budget because they give you free breakfast and the staff are very helpful. It is a bit far from town, but it is near the Build Bright University, so security wise it is better.

Room Tip: You will have trouble opening your door if you stay in the last room on your right on the third floo...
