“Good Budget Option!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2013 via mobile

The staff here are very good - they were very friendly and arranged for us 3 days of touring with a dedicated tuktuk driver throughout our stay (from the free pickup at the bus depot until he dropped us at the airport 4 days later!).

The food in the restaurant is ok - nothing to write home about but a decent, affordable and convenient option. A word of warning, when you do the full day tours of Angkor and the other temples, your tuktuk driver will likely take you to a restaurant - a welcomed break from the scorching sun - with overpriced, but good, meals. There are really no other better options, and it's definitely better than the food stands just outside the entrance of the temples. Not such a bad thing at all, just budget accordingly (it's probably 50% higher prices than you would pay in town).

The rooms were ok... A/c was needed and worked well, as did the hot shower. Not the cleanest room we have ever stayed or the nicest furnishings, but it wasn't dirty either, it was completely fine as a well located budget option in the city.

If returning on the same budget, I would probably stay here again!

Wow; in a nutshell.

Dancing Frog was one of my all time favourite hostel experiences ever. The Manager Ali made us stay in Siem Reap another day due to his off-the-beaten path Wat scavenger hunt and our heartfelt conversations.

The food was always fresh and delicious. Simple menu but it always delivers, I tried everything on it. I've read about people complaining about Food in Cambodia but I had no-such experience.

All the staff were always smiling and very accommodating. Our room was always clean, no safety issues, the price was cheap so I made sure to leave a gracious tip. They deserved every cent. Beer was well priced (both Angkor and Ankor) and location was perfect. Rent a bike next door and bike to see all the temples. Trust me, amazing adventures await.

I don't often want to travel back to the same place twice but the Dancing Frog is one place I will definitely be back to, and for a lot longer.

Do yourself a favour and stop by The Dancing Frog and I promise you, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Make sure to have a beer with Ali

We spent 3 nights here- double room $12 a night. The hostel was in a great location, very close to pub street and bus stations. The staff were very friendly, and the manager helped us work out an itinery for our visit to Angkor Wat and the other temples. He made recommendations about the best places to go to watch sunsets and sunrises to avoid the crowds which was helpful. He also organised a tuk tuk driver for us to take us around the temples for our stay. I was dubious at first, as thought we may be paying over the odds, but actually was no more than if we did it independantly, and So Phall our driver was very nice.

Rooms were cleaned every day, and our double was quite large. The only thing that dampened our experience was the constant building works going on next door. This started early in the morning (6am some mornings), and went on until the evening, and was extremely loud in both our bedroom and the bar/ dining area at the front of the guesthouse. The owner thinks it will go on for another month, but best to check before you book.

Other than the noise- a great guesthouse.

this place is brilliant,we stayed for nine days and we were very glad to have met mr ali and his staff.

the food is good and the beer is cheap, the staff are very friendly and always smiling.

if you want you can have your room cleaned everyday as well so they are always on top of cleaning.

mr ali will also help you with anything you need such as where to go and the price of tuk tuks,he had his own friends that he uses who will not rip you off.

Ok so this is the cheapest place I've stayed - for 2 of us for 5 nights it was £29 - and the nicest, most friendliest I've ever been to.

If your not a flashpacker but do enjoy cleanliness and a house full of smiles this is perfect. A 5 minute walk to the centre and a complimentary tuk tuk service. I could easily have stayed longer. Good food, good beer, great service. $1/ kilo of laundry and its hung out on the line to dry which I love - instead of the dirty dryer stench.

Simply perfect :-)

The Dancing Frog is one of the best places we have stayed throughout our trip and also one of the cheapest.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and are serviced daily.
It has a great location, close to Pub Street, markets etc but it is not noisy.
The guesthouse also has a restaurant out the front. Food is cheap and delicious and the beer is cold.
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They genuinely want to make sure that you bet a fair deal with tuk tuk drivers and will organise trips to Angkor for you.
I would highly recommend staying here.

Dancing frog was an enjoyable stay. The owner Ali and the staff were excellent. It was so convienient that walking to downtown was only 5 minutes. It will save you a lot in tuk tuk and motorcyle fees. The food was excellent, specially the fried rice and chicken. Rooms were clean, breakfasts cheap, and laundry service on site. I had stayed at Hak's guesthouse, and this is by far the better of the two. The location is just worth it and saving money on transportation you can use towards an A/C room! 5 stars from me.

Room Tip: Get a room with a window for more air if you get a fan room.
