“Great owner, little ambiance”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

This little hostel is in a great location and is great value for money. The owner is exceptionally helpful, but if you're after a hostel that has a communal feel this isn't the one for you. Your room key is also left on a tray on the front desk which was a little concerning for me but is fairly common practice in Cambodia. At night, expect the front entrance to be barred with chairs and tables when you get home. The shower pressure (shower hose in bathroom- don't forget to remove your toilet paper!) was not capable of washing out the shampoo in my hair, but adequate for a rinse.

First and foremost we must mention Gilles and the other staff - all so lovely and helpful. Gilles had so many great tips from which ATMs to use, which temple tour may suit us best and was just so cool to talk to about life in Siem Reap and Cambodia in general. We felt welcome from his first email and he greeted us with a big smile and showed us around the room. Which was really homely - comfy bed, hot shower, cool air con and nothing but the sounds of children playing next door (a school perhaps?). The pizzas cooked at the guesthouse were amazing! Perfect location just a few minutes walk to pub street and the market, but away from the noise and busy main road. Great value for money. We will be back if we are in Siem Reap again for sure!

Arrived late from our bus from Laos, and our room must have been given away as we were upgraded for the night. It was a decent enough room, with a fan and ensuite. The bathroom was ok, nothing luxurious but did the job. The beds were a little bit hard. The owner was very friendly and accomodating.

It was a relief being in this place because of Mr. Gilles who runs this place. Being a French man, running a hostel in Siem Reap turns out to be beneficiary for the travellers as he is someone who speaks proper English, is well aware of the scams and threats around for tourists and warns you about it every morning you leave. Trust me you need that in Cambodia.
Overall a very welcoming and helpful place.

Gilles, the owner, is very friendly and knows exactly where everything is. The location is perfect. Maximum of 5 minutes to pub street. Rooms are basic but you get what you pay for. The curtains were closed when we walked in, it was when we looked behind them that we realised why. Please clean this up Gilles! It was disgusting. We just kept the curtains closed, not a big deal but still not pleasant in any room no matter at what price. Nice hostel, with a nice atmosphere.

Nice owner from Malaysia took us in and gave us nice rooms with attached bathrooms. Overall clean but could use better lighting outside the rooms. Location is very good and near Old Market/Angkor Night Market/Pub Street, big plus! Owner can arrange for transport to Angkor Wat and bus to Phnom Penh one day in advance if needed.

Side note : If you plan to bus to Phnom Penh then use the Giant Ibis bus (14 USD) over the Sorya Bus (10 USD), tried both and Giant Ibis takes an hour less with only one lunch stop instead of multiple pick-up stops.
