“Superb service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013

Excellent service provided by the staff from start to finish. We were greeted warmly by very helpful staff who helped us plan our three days and provided early check in free of charge. Our twin room was spacious and clean which was maintained everyday. The breakfast was also very good. Every request we made was promptly dealt with by the staff. Tuk-tuk drivers are always available to take you wherever you want to go. All this including free airport transfers for £36 for three nights for two of us! An excellent hotel and highly recommended!

We were in Cambodia for 10 days and stayed in several different cities / hotels, and of all our hotels Gloria Angkor Hotel definitely provided the best service for the best value. The staff is exceptionally helpful and will go out of their way to make your experience in Siem Reap as pleasant as possible-- whatever you need, just ask, and they will do their absolute best to meet your needs. Breakfast is great and is available all day; rooms are clean; the showers have hot water; and I can't stress enough that the staff really is so helpful-- whether it be through helping you arrange a nice bus to your next destination, taking care of your laundry, or providing you with a cold beverage and snacks when you get back from a long day, they really are always trying their best to please you! Definitely some of the best service we experienced in Cambodia. And although it's on a random road outside the downtown area of Siem Reap (probably the only less-than-great aspect of the hotel), Gloria Angkor still felt perfectly safe and it really is very convenient-- there are always tuk tuk drivers right outside the hotel who will take you anywhere you want to go, and in the evenings there is free transportation to the downtown area. (And if you don't want to deal with the noisy crowds of downtown Siem Reap at night while you're trying to sleep, it might actually prove to be an advantage that Gloria Angkor is a little removed from all that!)

Speaking of tuk tuk drivers, Mr. Sou is THE BEST-- he met us at Siem Reap Airport past midnight on the night of our arrival, and was our driver for our entire stay in Siem Reap-- he took us to see the temples every day, and even brought us to Angkor Wat super early in the morning to see the sun rise, and most importantly he always did everything with a smile and was so nice and kind and eager to please, and was never ever pushy, and even though he didn't speak too much English it was still possible to communicate with him and he always gave helpful recommendations in terms of which temples to visit and when, etc. Definitely seek out Mr. Sou as your tuk tuk driver, he truly was the best tuk tuk driver we found in all of Cambodia by far!!!

This is a fantastic hotel on the main road of Siem Reap. Siem Reap itself is a satellite village to Angkor Wat, it really has no appeal in its own right, though it does boast some restaurants and a few shops. The hotel rooms are large and very comfortable, strong A/C and good shower rooms, fast wifi throughout and extremely helpful staff, some of the best I met. Tuk-tuk for a day around the temples was $13 (and that even allows you to be collected from a bus station if you book in advance and they will take you to restaurants etc. and return you until 10pm, all for the $13). They also sort onward transport to Bangkok by bus (same bus all the way, just you get off and walk through the border at Poipet). However, I would STRONGLY recommend you considering flying Siem Reap to Bangkok, the bus is a good 10+ hours (they advise 10, ours took nearer 12) and the roads are tiring and the buses not ideal. It is an adventure and a great way to see the scenery, and only costs $12, but you will save 5 hours flying and be much more comfortable, albeit at a $60 premium! No real point giving a review of the temples, they are simply incredible, though with enthusiasm (and lots of water, it's jungle humidity) you can do them in a day, two days to see lots of them).

I had a fantastic time in Siem Reap, much of which was down to the fantastic staff at Gloria Angkor Hotel.

The hotel is a short tuk-tuk ride from the centre of town, but the hotel provides free tuk-tuks between 7 - 10 so it was not a problem. The hotel also organised tuk-tuk hire to take us around the spectacular temples. we couldn't have had a better driver than Sarah whose knowledge of which temples to see was much better than our guidebook's. we covered all the temples over a three day period at a fantastic price, he also took us to the airport for free. There is a big fruit market down the road from the hotel and we enjoyed buying fresh fruit to snack on during long days sightseeing.

The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed is firm, but this is normal for many South East Asian hotels. The breakfast is basic with a small selection to cover all dietry needs and will keep you going to lunch, or your first pineapple on a stick!

I cannot urge people to visit Siem Reap enough, a fantastic city with very lovely people. The shopping is also fantastic - my biggest regret was not buying more. Gloria Angkor Hotel is a great base for what will be a memorable and great holiday.

Room Tip: My room backed onto a ice-makers who work through the night. Being a light sleeper I needed earplug...

Ok, it does not have a swimming pool and its some. 5km from centre , however, you get free transfer from the hotel ( by tuk tuk ) to the centre ( and back) every evening between 6 & 10 pm ,
Free tea and coffee all day , free fruits and snack and free transer to and for the airport . What more does one need , and great service , all for 22 USd .....just one tip, try to get the room away from the main rood

Room Tip: Select room away from the adi road

We stayed for 6 nights. Our room was clean and comfortable. Front desk service was always polite and pleasant. For the price we paid, we appreciated the all-day breakfast which upon request could be delivered to our room or packed if we wanted to head out early to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, the cable channels and good wifi connectivity throughout the hotel. Although the hotel is not located within reasonable walking distance from Pub Street/Old Market in Siem Reap, free tuktuk service was provided both ways every evening.

We would especially like to thank our tuktuk driver Mr. Pon. He was friendly, helpful and professional. We never had to wait long amongst the sea of tourists at the main attractions because Mr. Pon always spotted us first. He also drove cautiously on the bumpy roads to ensure that our ride was as comfortable as possible.

Hotel is on a busy street and the main bonus is there are tuk tuk drivers who work for the hotel. They are technically free but its nice to give them a little bit as their days are very long. Breakfast was fantastic and the staff were great, happy to help making toast or ordering fresh eggs for you. Beautifully clean hotel and nice rooms with a really good view of the busy goings on in Siem Reap. The only problem I found was the staffs English was not very good which caused some room confusion. I booked a triple room for 4 nights, the first night there was only 2 of us then the 3rd group member arrived the following day for the last 3 nights. When we checked in we were given a twin room and they never mentioned the fact that I'd booked a triple. I had to explain the 3rd member would arrive the following day, this was quite hard work. They then advised we would move to a triple the following day. The 3rd member of our group had arranged an airport pick up via email which never happened and when I tried to ask at reception when they were picking her up it was so hard for them to understand I just gave up. Our friend ended up paying to get a moto to the hotel as there was no one to pick her up, not a huge deal as we are used to travelling but for someone doing it for the first time alone I can imagine would be quite scary. We never ended up changing rooms as they just put a third camp bed in the twin, it was pretty uncomfortable. Apart from this confusion the stay was great, they have a sister hotel about 5 mins tuk tuk away where you can use the pool as there isn't one on site at the Gloria. I am giving this hotel a 4 score as everything else was great, the staff try really hard and I cannot fault that. English isn't their first language so these things happen. Overall it made no difference to our trip, just thought people should be aware when booking airport transfers, make sure you reconfirm again a couple of days before you arrive. Would definitely stay here again :)
