Stayed here for three nights while exploring Angkor. Great value even in Cambodia and truly polite service (though sometimes a little too much).... The English is average here but enough to generally get your message across, the check-in procuedite could also do with some stream lining. The room had great air-con, comfortable beds and 2 free water bottles. The shower does flood but it's no problem and always had strong pressure and hot water. The turn down service at night and scroll bed time stories were truly a perfect touch (and books placed on the bed for easy reading). One thing of note here is that there was no room service menu in the room (even when asking for it) and the Tv channel list did not match the actually TV which was infuriating when trying to find the movies on that night (left at turn down nightly) - turns out the channels were not on our TV so a bit mean and no major English news channels could be found.
the breakfast was adaquate though the pineapple juice was rancid, cooked eggs and pancakes were great but they often don't bring croissants to your table till your about to leave. No cereal but fruit and other Asian breakfast dishes. The pool was amazing after a long day and the cocktails were delicious, well made and very reasonably priced (so much so that I was only stopped as I had a free massage to go to offered by booking directly through the hotel).
The hotel does an amazing job with organizing tuk-tuk tours with a gaggle of operators always outside vying for your business. Here I would recommend you to ask for Sarath, by name, as he was by far the most polite, safe and good natured driver we had on our entire journey in South east Asia.... We used him
For most of our stay and never once did he try over charge us, infact he undercharged based on the hotels guidelines many times. Truly a good guy, and his eagerness to give you ice cold water after and before every temple is a god send. How ever the hotels provision of free tuk-tuk to town and back at night was very weirdly run and every time I ended up paying for my own one back (and to the airport)
In general you will not find a better priced, more friendly hotel in Siam Reap with this level of service- book here without hesitation, the free gift at the end of your stay was a nice touch.
HOWEVER I need to note one incident that you should watch out for, on check out I paid $50 in cash and the rest on card for a $132 dollar bill. I was charged $98 to my card and afterwards thought that's not right (it hard to understand the receptionist but then saw the bill and knew). I said I was charged to much, she didn't understand but then I think figured it out and gave me $6 ... I said that's still not right then she insisted I had only given her $40 (not true but she had put in draw). At that point I gave up as her English was not Good enough. Either way I was ripped off either $4 or $14... Not a big loss but really left a sour taste. Best to watch out and hope the hotel trains staff better on cash handling procedure.
PS don't be called into thinking washing is cheaper here, it's not. Within 200m of the hotel there are 3 laundry places which charge $1 per kilo, one a bit further along will even deliver back to hotel for you. We washed at hotel, the clothes were still dirty afterwards and was charges a small fortune. Oh and then you have to collect them from downstairs and they don't tell you when it's ready
