I just left the Gloria Angkor after four nights in this lovely hotel. The city of Siem Reap was overwhelming for me but it was a joy to return to this clean, comfortable hotel. Note that you'll need to take a tuk tuk down to the markets and restaurants but it's a short, inexpensive drive. Staff don't speak wonderful English, but that's ok:) If I was insistent on fluent English, I should have stayed home. The staff and tuk tuk drivers were very friendly and made me feel at home. The room was clean and comfortable though some people may not like the firm mattress. The restaurant was very nice and the included breakfast was good - omelettes, fruit, toast, etc. The pool was amazing and I spent most afternoons there after hot mornings at the temples. The bad news? The bar for accommodations has now been set very high because I'll compare other places to this lovely hotel.
If you're looking for a super social vibe, this is not the place. However, if you are looking for an oasis away from the SR frenzy, you've found it!More
