If you want quality without going near a chain hotel, then this is the place for you; the .manager is amazing; the pool delicious and the water in the room is HOT. Do ensure you have the address with you as many of the tuk tuk drivers did not know where it was; but it is well worth finding. Also, have your laundry done here - $1 kilo and it comes back beautifully folded.

Room Tip: go for the ones with a balcony - top floor - the outside bath is the biggest I have ever seen.

Run by a delightful couple, Elke and Wee, Pippeli is small and cosy. A welcoming and tranquil pool. The staff friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed a spa room on the third floor. Spacious, cool, relaxing. The stone spa stunning.
The breakfast delivered to my terrace was delicious and HUGE and even delivered one morning 4am in readiness for cycling early to the temples.
Thankyou Elke and Wee.

Room Tip: spa room is fabulous and so reasonably priced. large, cool, relaxing. Perfect.

We loved everything about the hotel. The staff are super friendly, always willing to supply us with what we wanted. The food was excellent, after a few days of Cambodian, I was ready for some beef and the bacon Cheese burger was excellent. My wife enjoyed the salad on several occasions. The fridge was well supplied with cold beer ($1.50 USD) and white and red wines. Wee the owner dropped by every day to greet guests, talk with staff and check on maintenance. Jim the resident Tuk-Tuk driver picked us up at the airport and took us to all of the temples. He is a great guy and was very helpful. Marany the front desk manager was always there to help with a ready smile. Afternoons by the pool were just fine after a morning looking at Temples.

Room Tip: We stayed in 109 which is one of the two rooms with a private outdoor bathtub that is big enough for two. I think I would go with number 106 next time, down one floor with a smaller balcony, but either would have been fine.

Stayed at the terrace room on the ground floor that is facing the back of the hotel. The room is average: Basic toiletries including a safety deposit box and a hairdryer, but there were no room slippers, so we made do with our flip-flops. There was a bathtub in our courtyard but we didn't use it.

What we liked:

- Fast check-in. We managed to check in before 2pm.

- Choice of having breakfast at our room. We had ours in the courtyard as well as besides the pool

- Service is excellent here. Staff here are always smiling and ready to greet you. The receptionist, Marany, even gave us advice on how we should cover the temple circuits and the duration required. She advised us on whether we had enough time to catch the sunset/sunrise and which temples to do first since we only had 4 hours on the first day.

- You can arrange everything at the front desk and the price is reasonable. Our spa treatment and daily tuk-tuk rides to the Angkor Park was all arranged within the hotel. It really saved us trouble from haggling with tuk-tuk drivers on the streets. Plus it felt safer too.

- We had a designated tuk-tuk driver for the 3 days. His name is Makara. He is very accommodating and friendly. The cost of each ride, depending on which part of the park, ranges from US$15 to US$18.

- The hotel will also drop you off at Pub Street if you don't wish to walk there.

- The hotel is near the Art Market, which is across the bridge from the Old Market. It's a nice stroll back to the hotel when you've finished dinner at Pub Street.

- Breakfast is decent. No complaints here.

- Free airport transfer by tuk-tuk to and fro.

- Spa treatment can be done in the room or at Bodia Spa next to Pub Street. It's slightly more expensive than the regular spas, but the treatments there are exceptional and the therapists are pretty good. You get a 15% discount if you tell them you'r from Pippeli Pensione, but only for individual treatments and not for the packages.

What we didn't like:

- A LOT of mosquitoes in the room. Although we killed a number, there will always be a few still flying around. So it's best to keep insect repellant on you if possible. We didn't have a lot of problems and just smacked the mozzies when we came across one.

- Construction going on next door. Marany told us they're building a hotel after apologising to us about the noise. We didn't really have an issue with the noise because by the time work started, we had already left for the temples.

- The pool is very small but good enough for dipping and a relaxing swim

We loved it there still, but it's mainly because of the service and the people that made it a memorable stay.

Try to request for a room on the ground floor as the hotel has no lift and you'll have to climb the stairs to get to your room. This might not be ideal for elderly travellers or for people who have spent their entire day climbing temples under the hot sun and the last thing they want to do is to climb more stairs to their room.

Room Tip: Spa services can be done in-house or at the spa itself, which is facing Pub Street. Excellent spa.
