This hotel was great especially as we arrived on the day before the restaurant was back up after being refurbished. The Advantage Plus card was accepted for discounts at one restaurant which is disappointing.

This hotel has one of the most amazing pools ever. It is huge and has lots of nice touches to it, like a swim-up bar. The breakfast and dinner buffets are impressive too. The only thing that bothered me was the outdated furniture in the room.

We loved everything about the hotel and Cambodia with one exception. We had made reservations one month ahead in the US for a Cambodian dance/dinner show. When we appeared we were told there was no show. It was too late to catch a show anywhere else. We never got to see something that was a high priority on my itinerary.

My wife and I stay in hotels two to three months out of the year and have traveled all over the world. I can truly say that this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. It was named one of the “World’s Best Hotels” last year and it is easy to see why. The rooms were great, the food exceptional, and the grounds and pool were beautiful. But, what really sets this place apart is the friendliness and courtesy of the staff. There seemed to be an attendant at every door waiting to usher us into the air conditioned comfort of the lobby, the bar, one of the many restaurants, or anywhere else we wanted to go. We had occasion to chat with several of the hotel staff members and found that this level of service is a tradition of the hotel. If you have a choice of places to stay in Siem Reap while you visit Angkor Wat or any of the surrounding temples, you couldn’t do better than the Sofitel Angkor.

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. As a family of 4 we stayed for 4 nights but wished it was longer. The grounds and pool area were stunning, the pool was very kid friendly and my kids very much enjoyed the swim up bar for an afternoon juice. (there is also a kids cubby house). The Staff were so friendly and helpful.
The Explorers Tale bar was very relaxing and had a great range of cocktails at reasonable prices, we also ate there and the food was delicious and portions were generous. The buffet breakfast was very extensive and high quality. The Serpents bar (pool area) was a nice place to have a relaxing lunch.

The rooms were very nice with lovely hard wood floors. Each day there would be a local gift for us placed in the room, which was a very nice touch.I went to the spa for a much needed foot massage which was so relaxing I almost feel asleep but my feet and legs felt great after.

Although not in the Town Centre the hotel is only a quick Tuk Tuk ride away and is also rather close to the main temples. Tuk Tuk is a fun and inexpensive way to get around, we had Mr Narin who was a lovely, helpful and very knowledgable driver.

I hope to return to Siem Reap and the Sofitel one day.

Room Tip: Having kids we requested a ground floor room with easy acccess to the pool. We overlooked the pool a...

My family and I (husband and twin children) stayed for 4 nights. I had booked an adjoining room for the kids and both rooms were beautiful and spacious. The staff were always very attentive and friendly. Hotel amenities were perfect for our needs (pool, gym, restaurants) and the food served was top quality. Only a couple of issues proved a little annoying. I had invited friends (family of 6) who were staying at a nearby hotel, over for a swim and lunch. They only stayed a couple of hours. The staff wanted to charge us US$25 per person (!!) for each non-hotel guest. As I did not see any signs nor was there any advice on this in the hotel guest book, I refused to pay this exorbitant charge. The other issue was asking the hotel to book a tour guide for the temples. We asked for a 1/2 day tour but were not advised that if we went over the 4 hours (which was at the guide's discretion), we would be charged for a full day. 4 hours simply would not have allowed sufficient time to visit the 3 temples that we had chosen.

the Phokeethra was a truly beautiful resort that catered to all our needs and wishes. We only stayed for three nights but could have easily stayed on much longer. The pool was refreshing, the food at Muhouts was beautiful and the room was comfortable and quiet. The most lovely thing about the hotel was the staff. The smiles and welcomes made me feel very welcome. Would definitely come back to the Phokeethra on a return visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool or pond
