“Old World Class in Siem Reap. Best Place to Stay to Tour Angkor Wat”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

Our stay at the Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor was great. This is a classic old hotel, beautifully renovated and preserving the old colonial style. Our room faced the large pool and was quiet and beautifully appointed.

The service at the hotel is indulgent to a fault. If you are sunning by the pool, they will even wipe your sunglasses for you. Guests are most often recognized by name and provided with every convenience possible. Hotel is a short Tuk Tuk ride from the downtown Pub Street area where there are many restaurants and a large night market.

The hotel's main restaurant is very good and breakfast and lunch were great.

I did not stay at the raffles but I did stop by for a massage and had high tea on two different afternoons during my stay. The Raffles is a very lovely hotel. Unfortunately the rates are not for the faint of heart. What you are paying for at the Raffles is the ambience. Almost anything you can purchase at the hotel can be found outside the hotel for at least half the price.
High tea was excellent. You get to sit in a very nice lounge and the portions are enough for two...maybe even three people (if you've already had lunch). The first afternoon I went by myself I took my time and had a wonderful relaxing afternoon and never felt rushed. The only down is side is not really the hotel's fault. The longer I sat there, the more I felt like I was back in colonial times-complete with the blantant seperation between the foreigner "haves" and the local "have nots."
Overall worth the visit and photo opportunities.

We cannot recommond Raffles Grand Hotel enough its was an extremely memorable stay from the moment we were met on arrival by an Ambassador and shown the hotel and our room. We felt like we were in a movie set from an Agatha Christie novel
The staff were excellent ,friendly and courteous and coudn't do enough for you. The bed was very comfortable!!, as asian beds are usually rock hard, and the Breakfasts, including a glass of champagne were something to look forward to before or after a hard slog at the temples as was the happy hour singapore sling at the end of the day. I can not fault this hotel at all and as we stayed in Raffles in Phnom Penh as well my husband and I prefered the Grand as it was more personnel

Room Tip: we stayed in the landmark room which had butler service our room was serviced at least 3 times a day...

We are very happy to read that you enjoyed your time and appreciate the details which make Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor a unique experience when you come to Siem Reap Cambodia. It was especially pleasing to hear that you felt that you had been transported to a bygone era. The Grand Hotel is certainly a stately old Dame and a feature of Siem Reap.

I can see why this hotel recently won an award for the Best Service, it trully was amazing. From the moment that we arrived to the moment we left, the staff couldn't have been anymore polite nad welcoming and helpful. The unique elevator is wonderful, the pool table in the elephant bar and a must try is the dip that is served with drinks here, simply yummy. The staff always had your room key waiting for you on arrival (I still don't know how they knew when to expect you!) but I would definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Overlooking the gardens and the Presidential home

I loved this hotel. From the antique elevator, to the superb staff (some of the most helpful and friendly you'll ever encounter). Food was outstanding, our room was amazing. The swimming pool and pool service - five stars!!

While it's pretty compact and modest in many ways, your hotel is definitely one of our absolute favourites anywhere in the world, probably one of our top three...comparison set being incredible Relais and Chateaux, slh's, Oberoi and Taj resorts in India.

We both felt it was such an amazing level of service, all the staff were so genuinely lovely, and kind. The pool area was so elegant, simple and beautiful and overall we just loved the whole thing. The food was all very lovely - and we didn't even try the fine dining. The man at the spa that was offering the free stretching sessions was incredible, and more knowledgable and informative to us about our bodies than any masseuse that we have ever had anywhere and his subsequent massage was the best we have ever had.

If we lived in Asia we'd probably use Raffles Siem Reap as a weekend getaway.

There's a fantastic and lovely Kiwi 'ambassador' named Dean who can help you plan your experience and stay.
