We booked two rooms for my family while we were in SR this summer. It was a toss-up between this and the Raffles property in SR. We chose La Residence and I am glad we did. The rooms were amazing. We made the reservations through American Express Platinum and they got us upgrades - and it was worth it!

The rooms are very comfortable and well laid out. The bathrooms were amazing! Our rooms overlooked the beautiful pool with a balcony – the perfect place to enjoy a quiet glass of wine before dinner.

The pool is a long, beautiful pool surrounded by the hotel but shrouded by foliage - so it's a very nice setting to relax after a very early morning and a long day of walking through temples - a good way to unwind before heading out to dinner.

The bar was a great experience - a very nice, relaxing atmosphere that was great for pre-dinner drinks.

We did dinner in the hotel for the Khmer dancing – which was very good – and the food was excellent. The breakfasts were good and the service throughout our entire experience was excellent and always with a smile.

Overall, everyone had a fantastic time at this hotel and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Get the upgraded rooms overlooking the pool. They are quiet and huge. Worth every penny!

This is my third review of this outstanding hotel so the review will be fairly short. Suffice to say that after our 8th visit in November we continue to be impressed with the quality of service and the friendliness of all the staff. This hotel is within easy walking distance to the centre of town but is a true oasis from the hustle and bustle and traffic of this busy metropolis. In short, location is great.
Yes, there will be some street noise but this is hard to avoid anywhere in SR.
The rooms, particularly poolside rooms are lovely and the pool itself is eye-catching - oil lamps illuminate the poolside area at night giving a wonderful spectacle.
Whilst we tend to eat out in town, the restaurant is first class. So too is the Spa. This is our real indulgence and the staff are great. My wife had a recent shoulder operation and Sokhon her therapist deserves special mention - a real credit to the Spa.
With our many previous visits, we regard this great hotel as a real home from home. It is an indulgence and well worth it. Carla, the recently appointed GM is introducing subtle improvements all the while and all the staff seem highly motivated. We love this hotel and strongly recommend it above the other 5 star properties in this fast developing town.

Room Tip: Choose a de-luxe poolside.

This hotel was awesome. The staff was very friendly. Our room was huge with a really cool extra large tub. They cleaned the room twice a day and gave free water. Internet was free and the restaurants were good and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was good compared to our other breakfast experiences at similar quality hotels in the region. The first night we got there, a wedding had just begun at a nearby restaurant and it went from before we arrived until about 30 hours later. Cambodian traditional wedding music is nice to listen to but the bass was so loud that it was vibrating our room and it wouldn't stop. I didn't notice it when I first arrived because I was so sleep deprived from 25 hours of traveling. I did notice it when the music and bass started up at 6am the next morning. The hotel was very accommodating and offered to switch rooms for us. They also checked with the wedding to find out when it would be over. It turned out the wedding would be over at about 10pm our second night so we just kept our room. We were gone most of the day. The location is great for exploring the temples.

Stylish Hotel with lovely rooms. We did have a couple of niggles like restaurant menus staying static although food quality good. Staff were good but you felt there was more enthusiasm than strength in depth. Air-con did not work properly in c35c temps. My wife had an undercooked meal and we had 3 people over 2 meals apologise but no meal refund-I suggest the staff were not empowered to make decisions like that a function of inexperience. I believe it is because the hotel is too big to be boutique but too small to retain exceptional staff in depth.
On balance good to stay but not to OE standards elsewhere

It seems that this hotel can do no wrong, so I'm not sure why it's not higher up the ratings! I'd agree with all the other positive comments made by other reviewers- no point repeating them! The only minor negatives are the street noise, which is inevitable if you're anywhere central in Siem reap, the lack of sun around the pool in the afternoon ( the time when most people would want to be there after a busy morning) and the far too complicated lighting system in the rooms ( which apparently they are changing ) Our room 61 was great for its size, and outdoor terrace with some sun in the afternoon
Compared to its sister hotel in Luang Prabang, this is a world apart in terms of its offering- and strangely, the room rate in Luang Prabang is higher... Orient express needs to sort this out!

Room Tip: The suites are fabulous.

A great base for the wonders of Angkor, providing a poolside oasis to wile away the hot midday hours between your morning and afternoon explorations. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the modern rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with tasteful minimalist decoration, and enormous bath and dressing rooms (we were in the new wing).

Whilst not cheap, particularly by local standards, we found our hotel organised guide and driver to be an excellent investment, maximising our expedition opportunities (including to lesser known sites that we had not even considered in our planning) and at the most appropriate times (ie, when the least people visiting).

In the centre of Siem Reap an oasis of calm and serenity. The staff simply could not be more helpful. At almost no notice they were able to arrange for an outstanding private guide at very reasonable cost for a tour of the Angkor World Heritage area. Lovely large rooms overlooking the pool/jungle, an excellent spa and surprisingly good breakfasts to prepare one for a full date of temple trekking.
