Our room at La Residence was charming, spotless, and quiet. The amenities in our room and the view of the lush plantings around the pool were delightful. Our visit to the spa was the perfect way to relax after hours of touring the temples. The dining facilities and native dancing shows were all excellent. But what really made this hotel a "stand out" was the staff. They went out of their way to take good care of us by providing a private tour guide, dinner reservations and even welcoming us back to their facility after we had checked out and had a problem with our flight schedule at the airport. I would definately return to this hotel and recommend it highly to friends.

Room Tip: We loved the view from our room at the far end of the pool.

My mother and I stayed here for a few nights while visiting the temples of Angor.

Hotel- This hotel is a quiet, Shangri-la like hotel, which is close to everything but just far away that you feel isolated. Perfect if you ask me especially after the heat of the temples and the touristy chaos of Pub Street. The entry way to the lobby of the hotel is a bridge over a large koi pond, that wraps around part of the hotel. You are greeted with cold towels and juice before entering a high vaulted ceiling lobby. The front desk people all speak English and are very polite and accommodating. The rooms surround a large, outdoor pool, which is flanked by foliage reaching up the length of the buildings. There is a spa which is very enjoyable after being outside all day. The spa is pricer than the massage palours in town but much less expensive than a proper spa day in the States. Both my mother and I enjoyed the spa a couple of times. Gluttony at its finest.

The room- was HUGE with lots of space. It was nice coming back to the room just because of its size. You could spread out and not feel like you were on top of one another. The room is covered in teak floors and has teak sliding doors, which seperated the main room from the bathroom. The room is accented with traditional art on the walls. The bathroom is large and takes into account guest needs. The toilet is seperate from the shower area. There is a large closet and hotel safe within the bathroom. The tub is made for a huge slab of stone and is great to lie in and soak. The beds were firm, comfortable, and very cozy. They are covered by mosquito nets which can be tucked out of the way. There is also good TV, a decent mini bar and a small living area. The balcony looks out onto the pool however there is privacy due to the foliage running up the length of the building. Every night the staff comes and turns down the bed and leaves sweet treats in the living area. Its a nice service.

The service- impeccable, attentive, and not over bearing or intrusive. The service from the front desk people, to the spa attendants, to housekeeping is as already stated. Even when you go into the gift shop, the ladies do not harass you to buy something. Either you do, or your don't. I have no complaints. Whatever you need, is promptly given to you, with a smile. And the smile goes a long way. You will become familiar with the same staff faces.

The dining- our breakfast and dinner was included. Again, I have nothing bad to say. The morning breakfast is buffest style. They have the typical omlet/egg station but also have Khmer and Asian options. The breakfast danish/pastry table is extensive. They have everything and swtich it up every day. If you like ginger, then you must have the homemade ginger marmalade. It is sweet ginger goodness. I wish I would have pocketed a jar of it or if they made it available for sale, I would have bought a few jars. Maybe its me, but the ginger tasted different in SR than in the States. It was spicy and pungant and let you know you were eating ginger. But I digress. My mother is a vegertarian. She had many options for her meals and was never bored with the same boring meal. Whew.

Our room key was waiting for us as soon as we stepped out of the car and were escorted straight to the room. Had regular room which was big, comfortable with all the highend amenities you could ask for, including fresh fruit and pastries everyday. Huge stone bath tub was a savior after long day temple exploring. Breakfast was good with enough choices to try different dishes everyday. Beautiful, clean pool and great spa. On top of all, wonderful and very attentive staff. The hotel is right in the center which is perfect for city sightseeing from market visit to bars and restaurant hops. A little bit expensive for the area, but it's worth it. Few tips for visiting temples:
1) Don't waste you money on guides. They are very robotic, technical, no personality, speak limited english and refuse to visit top parts of the temples where you need to climb few steps. We noticed this with many guides while in the temples. Invest in good book or research and you will get move value and knowledge of the temples.
2) If you want good sunrise shot of Angkor Wat and skip the crowd try to enter from the back side of the temple and walk to the front. This can be arranged with the hotel car as you will need to go trough check point that is not for public use. You will end up in front of the crowd and get a good spot for pictures.
3) Avoid temple visits in the morning and late afternoon. Massive and sometimes very rude and uncultured groups of tourists may get really frustrating. Best time for visits for us were from 6AM-8AM and lunch time. You could have early morning visits and then return to hotel for breakfast, hangout in SR and then go for more visits at lunch time, after have lunch somewhere and then go for some more visits and watch the sunset. With this schedule we acquainted minimum numbers of tourists in the temples.

We stayed for 3 nights during one of the peak tourist seasons and after a day of touring the temples of the town of Siem Reap, La Residence was a great place to come back to. And it's proximity to the middle of town made it easy to walk to and from.
The staff were extremely helpful and proactive with their service, always enquiring if you needed something or how your day had been. The property itself was also very nice, beautiful pool, great rooms and the restaurants catered well to our requirements. We tried the Khmer tasting menu on one evening in the main restaurant, the same night as there was a traditional dancing show, great food and the show certainly added to the atmosphere.
If you are looking for a little bit of luxury in Siem Reap this is it, we would definitely come back.

I had the pleasure of staying at La Residence last week and can't stop thinking of how amazing my visit was. The property was spectacular and eloquent, peaceful and very relaxing. You will not find a better location! What even made this property extra amazing was the staff and the little things that they did to make you feel so
special. And you can tell that it came from the heart!
From remembering your name at breakfast to being greeted with a cold wet cloth at the door after a day of touring. And their smiles- so breathtaking!!!
The General Manager,Carla, was wonderful and made sure that everything was perfect! She also gave great area dining suggestions!
Siem Reap has so much to offer - Of course there are the Angkor Temples, but also Pub street, great spas, shopping and really good food- but to top everything off -,staying at La Residence makes it magical!! I can't wait to return and visit again!

We booked two rooms for my family while we were in SR this summer. It was a toss-up between this and the Raffles property in SR. We chose La Residence and I am glad we did. The rooms were amazing. We made the reservations through American Express Platinum and they got us upgrades - and it was worth it!

The rooms are very comfortable and well laid out. The bathrooms were amazing! Our rooms overlooked the beautiful pool with a balcony – the perfect place to enjoy a quiet glass of wine before dinner.

The pool is a long, beautiful pool surrounded by the hotel but shrouded by foliage - so it's a very nice setting to relax after a very early morning and a long day of walking through temples - a good way to unwind before heading out to dinner.

The bar was a great experience - a very nice, relaxing atmosphere that was great for pre-dinner drinks.

We did dinner in the hotel for the Khmer dancing – which was very good – and the food was excellent. The breakfasts were good and the service throughout our entire experience was excellent and always with a smile.

Overall, everyone had a fantastic time at this hotel and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Get the upgraded rooms overlooking the pool. They are quiet and huge. Worth every penny!

This is my third review of this outstanding hotel so the review will be fairly short. Suffice to say that after our 8th visit in November we continue to be impressed with the quality of service and the friendliness of all the staff. This hotel is within easy walking distance to the centre of town but is a true oasis from the hustle and bustle and traffic of this busy metropolis. In short, location is great.
Yes, there will be some street noise but this is hard to avoid anywhere in SR.
The rooms, particularly poolside rooms are lovely and the pool itself is eye-catching - oil lamps illuminate the poolside area at night giving a wonderful spectacle.
Whilst we tend to eat out in town, the restaurant is first class. So too is the Spa. This is our real indulgence and the staff are great. My wife had a recent shoulder operation and Sokhon her therapist deserves special mention - a real credit to the Spa.
With our many previous visits, we regard this great hotel as a real home from home. It is an indulgence and well worth it. Carla, the recently appointed GM is introducing subtle improvements all the while and all the staff seem highly motivated. We love this hotel and strongly recommend it above the other 5 star properties in this fast developing town.

Room Tip: Choose a de-luxe poolside.
