“Charming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed here in October for 4 nights. The hotel is a tuk tuk ride away from the town which in itself is fun. Our inter connecting rooms faced the street which were quite dark but comfortable. I would recommend choosing a pool view, for convenience and light if I was to visit again. The service was hit and miss, it was mainly the concierge who never seemed to have the correct information for trips or were very late getting back to us with information.

The pool is lovely and there is always a pool attendant nearby with small complimentary refreshments. Our children used the kids club, which was pretty basic but adequate. The staff were very nice.

The breakfast was nice, the restaurant overlooks the pool.

We did not have dinner here.

We moved from here to The Sofitel and I much preferred this hotel which is cosy and quite charming.

Room Tip: Pool view, ground floor

Dear SaffronRose,

Thank you very much for having taken the time to write your review. Whilst you obviously enjoyed your stay, I will follow up and find out what happened to the Concierge service. They certainly have all the information at hand, they have all been working here for years, and they certainly should have gotten back to you without delay.

Again, I apologize for this lapse in service but do hope that you would consider the Victoria Angor again should you come back to Siem Reap.

Best regards,

Hanno Stamm

Stayed 2 nights here in late decemeber. Very nice ambiente with colonial charm.
It is not highest standard on several levels but nevertheless, fine. We asked for
twin beds, it was a nightmare to get it. We booked deluxe and they wanted to give us
a cheaper twin beds rooms as the hotel seemed nearly fully booked. They told us that
some preferences at reservations will not transmitted if you book at hotels.com and/or agoda.com. Well, that is not my problem. If this is a problem, they need to talk to them and not to me. Sorry, this must be improved.
Breakfast buffet is o.k.
Air-con from neigbouh rooms are too loud, at least in my view.
The staff are all very friendly but the level is far away from Raffles where we stayed the other 2 days in Siem Reap.

Dear topofthetop,

Thank you very much for your review. I do apologize however for the fact that you did not appear to have a very pleasant stay. I am sorry that we were not aware of the Twin bed request, this did not come through in your booking. As we were full during your stay, we did indeed struggle to accommodate your request.

We certainly do not compare ourselves to the Raffles, certainly not as far as the room rates are concerned; I'll be the first to admit that they are in a different category.

Once again, my apologies for a less than perfect stay.

Best regards,

Hanno Stamm

Beautiful French Colonial 1930's Hotel, packed with charm and character. From the tiled floors, wide stairs, high ceilings, window shutters and antique beds to the antique lifts...it is a lovely Hotel to immerse yourself in the history of the era. The room was well maintained, with all the usual amenities. Certainly a very nice 4.5 star hotel, and far from the sameness of modern hotels.
The pool was well organised, with towels regularly replaced, and attentive staff both there and in the restaurant bar ares, always keen to assist. Our 3 day stay, saw us eat all meals at the Hotel...1 Superb Meal in the BISTROT DE SIEM REAP French Restaurant, with 2 other dinners and all breakfasts at L'Escale Restaurant. The L'Explorer has a very generous Happy Hour and Cocktails etc were very very reasonable for a hotel of theis standard. From quick meals to top class French Restaurant, we did not have a bad meal here.
We have made a point of staying at Victoria Hotels throught Vietnam and now Cambodia. The standards at each, from Sapa, Hoi Ann, Chau Doc and Can Thou were mirrored here at this Hotel. Well managed, friendly staff and some very personal service added to the holiday experience. We very much look forward to coming back here again.

Victoria Hotel made our trip to Siem Reap so memorable and easy! Thank you all for your kind accommadation and excellent service. My girls love the hotel and felt right at home as they easily explore it. They especially love the baby crocodiles. We wished your hotel still had the Cambodia Khmer dance performance for diners at your hotel site. I bet our all experience would have been different if we watched it at your hotel. We did not really enjoy our dining experience at Century Angkor Hotel, which was recommended by you. However the dance performance was great.

Overall, we are so happy withour trip and stay at your hotel. Thank You!

Located in a beautiful part of Siem Reap (next to the Royal Gardens), the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa is a harmonious blend of early 20th century French charm, Cambodian art elements and modern amenities. The architecture of the building and the beautiful pieces of art are an attraction in themselves.

I found the staff to be very attentive and charming, whether at the reception, in the two restaurants or room maintenance.

Breakfast and the other meals were among the best I had during my stay in Cambodia, in terms of taste as well as diversity (Asian and Western, also vegetarian, which I appreciated). The breakfast buffet is, in fact, quite impressive and rewards more than a rushed stop before heading to the temples.

As a rather big hotel it can, at times, be busy and, therefore, does not have the intimate feel of a small place or B&B.

Overall a very stylish and well-managed hotel.
