We stayed in ten 5 star hotels on our 3 weeek trip round Indochina, and this was by far the best- in fact possibly my favourite hotel ever! Built in French colonial style in front of the Royal gardens it was the perfect place to wind down after a busy day temple visiting. We stayed in the Plantation Suite, which was huge, with a large balcony overlooking the gardens and pool. It was beautifully decorated and furnished with period pieces, although it had all mod-cons too, including an i-pod, plasma satellite TV,Nespresso machine and kettle, and free Wifi. The bed was so comfortable, and the a/c so quiet and efficient we slept like logs. The bathroom had a good bath, large shower cubicle, 2 basins, and separate WC. There was also plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. I loved the gifts left every night at turndown- spices, keyrings balm etc.
The breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of Western and Asian foods, hot and cold. I appreciated the chef who spent all morning juicing oranges- and the omelettes were superb too
The swimming pool was large, crystal clear, and a great place to cool down. It was set in pretty gardens, with adequate sunloungers and umbrellas. We ate lunch there once and the food was good, and the pool bar service swift.
The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the restaurants of Pub St, but we used the tuk-tuks, $2 well spent.
Finally the staff were all helpful, efficient, smiling , and seemed genuinely pleased to serve. They spoke good English too
We were very sorry to have to move on- I would highly recommend this hotel

This is the only place to stay - that is if you want atmosphere, brilliant service, incredible food, realistically priced and not watered down drinks and all of the other services you would expect from a 5 star resort.
You can probably imagine that we were very very satisfied with our 4 night stay.
Rooms: We took two - one for our 18 y/o daughter and one for us. The rooms interconnected and were large and very well appointed with great big comfortable beds, good TV servies and movies, decent sized bathrooms, highly efficient air con and a balcony with a pool view. Complimentary broadband was also in every room so daughter could Skype her Aussie friends and keep in touch.
Food: There are two main restaurants as well as room service and areas where snacks are served in the afternoon. We ate dinner twice at each of the restaurants one of which is French style fine dining the other a mix of French and Asian style food. We are foodies and have travelled a fair bit; the French restaurant was one of the best we have eaten in both for food presentation and quality and value for money. The same can be said for the other restaurant. There is no need to risk crippling Bali belly by eating in Siem Reap. The food here is so much more than adequate.
Breakfast is probably the best you will find anywhere in the world. It is buffet style with just about all food styles on offer. You can even boil your own egg should you wish. There is a comprehensive range of fresh baked breads, danish pastries and croissants, and of course all of the jams etc to go with them. A selection of cold meats (ham, salamies etc) a selection of cheeses and masses of fresh fruits. Then there is the cooked food selections which cater to both Asian and Caucasian tastes; you can try Congee with bacon and eggs if you wanted to.
Facilites: There is a spa and beauty parlour - I had a wonderful massage and my daughter a manicure, the service was excellent and the spa rooms clean and hygienic with ensuite showers. The pool is surrounded by sun lounges so that if you want to just chill out, you can and enjoy all of the pool services (drinks food etc) at the same time.
In the evening drinks are served in an open but covered area alongside the pool, we found this to be an excellent way to unwind after a heavy day checking out the temples at Angkor Wat or some of the many other activities that are available.
The icing on the cake for us was on the day of check out when daughter turned 19. A complimentary birthday cake was served at breakfast for her along with the Happy Birthday song and a card signed by all of the on duty staff.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were good

Having booked our trip with About Asia Travel we selected Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa and were not dissapointed. It was like visiting an oasis from the Colonial era and a pleasure to return to each day following surprising discoveries visiting Angkhor's amazing sites.

The rooms are lovely, well equipped, comfortable, cool and a good size - select one looking out on the swimming pool for best location. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient - the entire hotel was clean and well maintained.

Proximity to Siem Reap town centre was excellent, a short walk or if too hot, a tuk tuk ride is very cheap. Many types of cuisine are on offer and prices equally varied.

If you visit the Angkor sites take your own guide - it is an amazing spectacle and really good to know the history as you walk around - we had an amusing and well informed guide, Sarome Rieng (Sharon Stone for short) who speaks English, French, Khmer and Spanish.

I would highly recomment both the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa and About Asia Travel for giving us a memorable holiday.

Niel & Jenny Sydney

I travelled with my husband and we had the most amazing time in Seam Reap.
This hotel is a gorgeous botique style hotel. I especially loved all the little presents were we left in our room every night and also the amazing staff, expecially the young man who worked around the pool, so polite and charming.
We travelled everyday with Mr Rabbo in his motorised Tuk Tuk and he was brilliant!
I would go back to this hotel anytime! Loved it!
Be careful of getting sunstroke if you spend all day at the temples like I did!!!

This colonial style hotel is well updated/renovated. During our trip we had stayed in three Victoria hotels, and we can recommend everyone of them (Siem Reap, Chau Doc, Can Tho). Here in Siem Reap we had a pool view Suite which was very clean and roomy. The staff was very friendly and helpful in all three hotels. The food was of good quality and rich variety. We can also recommend the spa (had relaxing massage).

Room Tip: Poolview is very nice

The Victoria looks older than it is. The builders have made an attempt to recreate the colonial atmosphere that one expects of Raffles. Dark wood trim, small cage elevators and a cooling, dim lit interior. Breakfast is good and will appeal to all cultures. The pool large and freshing. The rooms are a little small for the price. One night there was a small bag of Camodian pepper as a gift from the hotel. The location just off the road to Angkor Archeological Park and facing a park is excellent. The charming elevators that only hold two people can be a problem for groups and families staying on the third floor. Just around the corner there are shops, banks and small restaurants.
(Hint: Look for the fruit bats that hang from the trees in the park)

Room Tip: Don't accept a room at the very back of the hotel. It feels like a mile from the front door and...

The best ice-cream available poolside at the Victoria Angkor Hotel and Spa is the home-made ginger and black sesame, and while you eat it you can ponder on the building. The hotel’s website talks of its “graceful colonial architecture of the 1930's”, but although no effort has been spared to give the place the feel of a colonial establishment, it’s likely to be a modern reconstruction. When the travel writer Norman Lewis was in Siem Reap in 1950 he said there was only one hotel, and he named it, and it wasn’t the Victoria.

Having picked that very small nit, it has to be said that the Victoria is as good a hotel as you’ll find in Siem Reap, or anywhere else in Cambodia. The colonial ambience – the dark wood, the pillared external galleries, the ceiling fans – is faultlessly done. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, and the public spaces almost all open to the outside world, so that any breath of air that’s going wafts through. The ceilings in the lobby are a bit low, which makes for a certain dimness; you don’t have the echoing marble lobbies of some other places, but that’s the colonial style for you, and it suited us very well.

The breakfast buffet is as good as any we’ve seen, and probably slightly more impressive than the dinners, but the hotel also has Le Bistrot de Siem Reap (“finest French restaurant in town”), and failing that there is plenty of eating choice in the town itself. The staff are helpful, polite, and good-natured without being fawning. The habit of leaving a little gift on the pillow when turning down the beds (a little bracelet, a Cambodian kroma) is particularly nice.

Room Tip: Nearly all the rooms have a pool view, but if you go for the third floor the view will be more compl...
