“The Perfect Getaway!!!”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

Great location, truly amazing hotel, everything is beautifully designed and taken care of, the staff is very helpful, dynamic and professional. The pool is fantastic as is the garden. The food is exellent and the service fast and efficient.
The suite we were in was just perfect after a day in the temples, very spacious, finely decorated, full of amenities, including an expresso machine, an ipod, a huge dressing-bathroom-toilet area and a great terrasse.
It is, I believe, a perfect getaway for a couple together with a great family hotel as well.
We highly recomment it!

We Stayed at the victoria from the 29th Feb until 14th march, we decided on this hotel from the many positive comments from the trip advisor site, we have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels in Asia and would say this is more like a 3 to 4 star, the reason for saying this is we had to ring reception to ask for our balcony to be cleaned as it was very dusty you could not sit out as it would of marked all of your clothes, and on the last night, there was a group of people who deciced to party by the swimming pool all night and i mean all night we rang down to reception to ask if they could be asked to be a little quieter but this was not to be, by 7:30 am the hotel staff were serving them more vodka which did not help the situation, there were many unhappy guests on the morning of the 14th.

On saying that the staff allways had a smile on their faces and were genuinely happy to help, the hotel is just a short tuk tuk ride from pub street and Jimmy the tuk tuk driver was really great allways ready to help and the first one there when he saw us walk out of the hotel, the swimming pool is lovely, and the breakfast was good, the rooms are a little worn even though the hotel is only 7 years old, the restaurant is expensive compered to other restaurants we visited whilst there of the same standard.

On the whole we enjoyed our visit to the Victoria Angkor Resort but just don't think it is worth the 5 star title.

Room Tip: Choose room over looking pool

My wife and I spent several days at the Victoria Angkor Hotel, and loved it. The hotel has a wonderful ambiance, with the feel and comfort of an old colonial hotel, but in fact it is quite new. Has a fabulous pool, which was a treat given the very hot days during our visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it has an excellent location in Siem Reap with all the great temples, restaurants and shopping in easy Tuk-Tuk distance. Highly recommend as a place to stay.

Room Tip: I think they are all good, but we had a pool view, which was perfect.

We stayed 4 nights as part of a tailor made trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. The hotel was a charming, low rise building with many colonial features. Our enjoyment was no doubt coloured by an upgrade to a huge suite but nevertheless the hotel, pool, Happy Hour with canapies, breakfast on an outside terrace and lovely staff made for a perfect stay.
We visited the temples early in the morning when it was cool and quiet and returned for breakfast. We used the hotel Tut Tuk at $1 to anywhere in town and$10 for a morning at Angkor.

Our room was on the ground level with an enclosed courtyard garden. It was quiet and comfortable, well appointed. The public areas have an nice ambience, love the little crocodiles and fish in the central pools.

The pool is a centrepiece here and great for cooling off but smoking is allowed and its not pleasant to be downwind from a cigar smoker!

This hotel is a short ride from Pub Street and there are many willing tuk tuks to whisk you there. The affable Mr Rabo No. 9 was there every night to take us to dinner.

Our negative for this hotel is the breakfast. It does not compare favourably to others we experienced in Cambodia. You need to pick carefully to enjoy. The chef has problems cooking scrambled eggs, it was a vat full of a very `runny' mix. Hot vegetable dishes were over fussy, quiches, frittatas, etc.

However love the Victoria Cooler mocktail and looked forward to this after a hard day at the temples which was served with free nibbles.

For a good value touch of indochine look no further.

Dear Casa62,

Thank you very much for your review and your constructive criticism.

We do normally get very got remarks about our breakfast, going so far as to nominate it as the "best breakfast in town". Whilst the scrambled eggs may be too runny for some of our guests, others do prefer it. However, we are always more than happy to make any egg dishes to order and the way desired.

I do hope to welcome you again in the future and promise to tweak the breakfast even more.

Best regards,

Hanno

Beautiful rooms, a great buffet in the morning ( do not miss the fresh squeezed orange juice!) and the best pool to cool off after a long day touring temples. Many nice surprises in your room and they are part of the "child safe" initiative and play a big part on eco tourism and "responsible tourism" which supports community development etc.

This was the penultimate stop on our tour of the region and was the worst hotel by far. The word that comes to mind is grim! Ours was a superior room and was awful. Dingy! Most of the staff barely acknowledge you and there is none of that famed Cambodian warmth.

We visited some temples at first light today and returned at 9am to find very very little for breakfast despite service until 10am and plenty of takers, meanwhile the staff were sitting smoking a few tables away.

We took refuge from the heat and were told that the table was reserved, I pointed out that we had in fact sat at one of the two tables that were not marked as reserved when the member of staff took a reserved sign off another table and dropped it on to ours. Nice service, not!

Wouldn't recommend anybody to stay here unless they update and shake up the running of the place.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

Dear Alan D,

I do thank you for your review, even though you obviously did not have a satisfactory stay; for this I apologize sincerely, I really am at a loss to explain what happened as we usually get nothing but good comments about our personnel. I will meet with them today to share your views and remind them that they are Ambassadors of their country.

Once again, I do apologize for you having such an unpleasant stay and will certainly follow up on your comments.

Best regards,

Hanno
