I went both sunrise and sunset. Got best photos 1 hour before sunset. Sunrise was really crowded...hundreds and maybe more trying to get the same shot. Way fewer people in late afternoon and suitable to go inside Temple at this time (too dark to walk around inside at sunrise)

Angkor Wat is a wonderful experience, but we went very early to watch the sunrise and were "guided" (our guide) to watch it from the main central area with the small lake/pond in front so you could see the reflection. Soooo many people - experience was distracting. Definitely have your guide find you a more secluded location for the experience.

Visiting Cambodia without visiting Angkor Wat means one hasn't been to Cambodia and it's true. Staying in Hak's guesthouse who recommended a reliable tuk-tuk driver Nak(Vannak his full name) was amazing charging us a reasonable US$15 for the whole day as he recommended that we started as early as 5.00 a.m. in the morning to catch the rising sun and the setting sun at Angkor was a fascinating experience. It was beautiful to take the whole scene and Nak took the trouble to knock at our hotel door to fetch us 5 a.m. just for that which was appreciated and back after sunset. Besides after the sunrise,we had the whole day to take pictures of its surroundings at Angkor until we were satisfied before taking a break for breakfast and lunch and then our continuing venture at Angkor,Nak would give us some instructions where and how to find him among the other tuk-tuk drivers so as we would not be mistaken for finding him as had happened to other tourists before having a hard time to find or how their drivers look like. Entrance fee to Angkor is US$20 per head for 1 day and one would be photographed and issued an identity card to show those guards at the gates before entering the ruins. On the whole it was a wonderful experience to have seen or taken pictures of the past or this wonder of the world and it's worth the money. Visiting hours from 5.30a.m to 5.30 p.m.

All you can say when you see this place is wow!!! Surrounded by a beautiful and very large moat with a long nicely laid out entrance causeway leading up to a majestic entrance. The temple is huge so plan for at least 3 hours. It is still in great shape and completely free of the Jungle allowing you to take in the entire experience.

Well known, must see. Take about 100 pictures. The scene was impressive. Well known, must see. Overcrowded, even early in the morning. Lucky with the weather, not to hot. But miss the sunrise.
