Huge temples, with mind blowing views, the tuktuk driver was great at taking us to the smaller temples as well as the larger ones, a bit of rain didn't stop anything.
The random tour guides are very insightful but something a bit of a bother.

Went for the sunrise - it was overcast - it didnt matter
Was nice to be in and around at 6AM as there were really very few people in there!
Note: You can only ascend to the top if you have your knee's and shoulders covered, oh and the stairs doesn't open till 8AM

Although no one likes waking up that early, it is really worth the effort! Our tuk tuk driver picked us up at the hotel at 5am, so we were at the Angkor Wat at 5:30am and there were already tons of people there. We had read that it gets way too crowded in the inside of the temple for the sunrise, so we chose to watch it from the outside, by the lake and it was amazing! Not only we didn't have to fight for a good spot, but also we got to see the sunrise mirrored on the water, which had an impressive effect! I can't say that it's better to watch it from the outside than from the inside, but I can say that it's worth watching it from the outside!

The Angkor Wat is without a doubt one of the most impressive places I have ever visited. The temple is incredible; we cycled there from Siem Reap in order to see sunrise and it was definitely worth the effort! The stonework is amazing, the history behind the place is great but it is mainly just a breathtaking site! Although sunrise was great, it was also the busiest time of day so if you want to avoid crowds going at mid-morning or lunchtime would be better. If there at sunrise, it is definitely worth the wait to get up into the central towers because the views are incredible. I'd recommend the Angkor Wat to anyone!!

We visited Angkor Wat on July 24 - 25. I felt that it was such a previlege to have set foot on such impressive historical monuments.
We did the Inner and Outer circles of the sites in 2 days. The weather is very hot and the roads are very very dusty (so tuk tuk maybe a problem if you are sensitive to the heat and dust). A tour guide is also recommended.
The main attraction is Angkor Wat which is part of the Inner circle. The Inner circle sites are much more interesting than the Outer Circle sites.
The sites are run down and with the number of tourists increasing, I fear these beautiful sites won't last very long if no proper preservation guidelines are in place.
It is really a pity that Cambodia also does not have proper border control regulations . Almost everyone that have come to Siem Reap(including our family) , have been subjected to direct and blatant demand for bribes (4 - 5 US dollars) per entry Visa, regardless of whether you have applied for Online Visa or purchase the Visa at Siem Reap airport. If you don't pay the bribes , your entry visa will not be processed or at least there will be a lengthy (and I mean lengthy) delays before you can get thru the custom gates.
In summary , Angkor Wat is definitely worth your while to see at least once in the life time But be aware of the lack of regulation and the abuse of power from the Siem Reap Custom Officers.
