I went with another family and stayed at Mom's guest house from May 24- 28, 2013. It's run by an elderly lady and her son. It's a small place run by very reliable owners and a handful of employees who come to clean and cook breakfast.
The 'yes things' first- the deluxe rooms are quite spacious, with a balcony. Standard rooms are clean and reasonably good size, but no balcony. Bathrooms are clean. There's refrigerator in each room and 2 water bottles are provided everyday, free of charge. Breakfast is included but it is the same every day. Some toast omelette tea and a plate of cut mango between 2 people.
Internet is free and speed is reasonable. Their swimming pool is small but clean and since no one uses it, for us it was like our own private pool.
Their tuk- tuk guy is very nice and friendly.
Trustworthy place. I wouldn't worry about leaving my camera or laptop on the bed. I realized, I would find it right where I had left it. They do provide a safe but it's number combinations are too complicated to use, so I never did.
The 'no' things: The lady, her son and grand daughter manage the reception, perhaps this is the reason why for most part of the day and evening there is no one at the reception.
The hallway is very dimly lit, they could do with some more lighting. There are only 2 computers for guests to use and both are so closely placed that no two guests (who are strangers to each other) would occupy both computers at the same time. If one computer was being used, the other computer sat idle. Guests wait for each other to finish.
There weren't many guests- only 5 rooms were occupied when we were there. That says something about the place. It is a laid back place though!
For the quality the price was high. For Deluxe room, we paid $32 and for Standard family room we paid $36
