“Relaxing in luxury in world famous ancient city”

Large compound with 24 rooms, 2 large and refreshing pools, rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable, great outdoor patio area and relaxing shower that looks onto it, amazing service and friendliness of staff and manager, wonderful activity options, located near all the beautiful temples of Angkor, nightly entertaining events, everything is included like drinks and food, perfect time to go is in the low season (June-August) because its emptier and, in turn, a more tranquil atmosphere, and weather really isn't that bad, some rain but it doesn't inhibit your experience to a large degree.

I would highly recommend the Amansara to anyone travelling to Siem Reap to see the Angkor temples. The service is impeccable, the food delicious and the rooms luxurious and comfortable. Their guides are the best and you will be able to see the temples, in the main, away from the madness of the crowds. The hotel is tucked away discreetly compared to the more vulgar 5 star ones surrounding it.

By staying at the Amansara you are certainly going to be experiencing the best of everything, what makes Amansara more than special though is the a refreshingly inclusive way you are able to interact with the staff. The staff are friendly, so well able to impart every important aspect to your stay, they find out what you like, what you might be interested in and take it one step further, and on top of that offer you incredible spa treatments. I really liked their attitude that was yes, Angkor and the area are historically important, incredible inspiring places to see, but don't forget you are still on vacation, you don't have to run around like crazy or feel guilty because you don't see every temple at dawn..you can also enjoy absorbing the vibe of the area and conversing with the people seemed to us to be as rewarding as seeing a temple. The Amansara Tonle Sap sunset journey was incredible, a must do and for those who feel the inclination there are lots of ways to contribute to the local community without intruding on them.. If Angkor Wat has always been on your list to see, this is the reward you must give yourself for getting there.

Room Tip: Every room here is just perfect..some have pools, some do not..everywhere is so elegant, yet equal m...

In brief, this was the most extraordinary "hotel" experience we've had. A luxury "hotel" that is discrete, "real" and lives up to its standards and reputation. Find that somewhere else.

The staff was professional while being true to who they were--there were personalities and there was room to laugh and not be stiff on their part; the service was exceptional--they didn't forget a thing; being true to their mission was evident--there is a strong connection between place and culture and how it is infused in your stay; the hotel itself was lovely--discrete, unassuming, top-quality and yet not showy.

Extraordinary.

A stunning hotel in several senses. Beautiful architecture . Superb rooms with private walled gardens and pools. The best service I have come across anywhere on many travels. To add to that next to the stunning Angkor Wat temple complex. The individual guided tours are very well thought out and start early to avoid the crush of tourists. We hardly saw any other tourists and approached our first temple through a small road in the jungle so it felt quite magical when we turned the bend and the ruins were in front of us surrounded by the trees and sounds of wildlife. Quite magical and you could imagine you were the early archaeologists who first rediscovered the buildings etc. The food in the hotel very good so far with choice between European and Khmer and drinks complimentary. Not cheap but worth every penny and a few more .

If anyplace is worth this kind of money, it's Amansara. From the moment you arrive through the unmarked gate opened by a guard who somehow senses your arrival, you know you are some place special. Only 24 rooms, spread around a couple of pools and grass; minimalist architecture, so as not to compete with the main event that brings most of us to Siem Reap -- the temples. The mood might be different if fully occupied but there were only a couple of others staying there, so it was like a private home, with the big swimming pool just outside our door, and the dining room just beyond it. You put yourself in their hands, with early breakfast, a three hour tour of temples, back for a second breakfast/brunch, free time in the heat of the day, another tour in the mid afternoon, back for a swim or time in the well-stocked library or to deal with photos with their Mac, cocktails and a world-class dinner -- and a good night sleep to get ready for a repeat the next day, with ever-impressive temples, a trip to local markets in the town, or the bars on Pub Street downtown (which is worth seeing). Try Angkor What? for $1 draft beers and $5 t-shirts. This is service like never before--the staff senses when you leave your room even for a quick swim in the pool, and unobtrusively refills peanuts, cashews, fruit, drinks, and tidies up, runs a bath, picks up the laundry you tried to do yourself and left to dry on the patio, and returns it the next morning, for free without asking. Vicki, who runs the food services, is outstanding in every respect. Ask about your favorite passion-fruit jam, and a bottle is waiting in your room before you return. Ask about your favorite dish, and a recipe is printed for you. Is all of this worth the price? Go, try and surprise yourself. We looked at Raffles across the street, and La Residence -- both of which are great hotels but can't match up in privacy and personal service, and I'd be surprised if the food reaches Amansara's pinnacle. Oh, and the temples are worth the visit whatever you pay, even after the temples of Bagan. Only regret is we didn't use the spa, which by all accounts is not to be missed.

Room Tip: I don't see any need to opt for a personal pool. the rooms are the same size, and the two "...
