“Great Stay”
Reviewed 20 March 2013

Me and my friends stayed at Secrets Pavilion for 4 nights during this February. It's a lovely place with the most hospitable staffs.

It's a new hotel, so most of drivers didn't know the exact location, but we printed the map and our driver found it after few minutes hesitation. There's a shortcut to night market (their staffs will show you the way) so actually the location was good enough.

4 of us stayed in 2 double rooms at the ground floor, at first we're a little bit worried about the noisy, but actually it's surprisingly quiet. Our room was cozy, clean and comfortable, not very big but good enough for 2 pax. The bathroom was small, but had everything we need. There was a mosquito curtain surrounded our bed, but it couldn't shut completely, so there were some mosquito at night, but we prepared spray so that's not a big problem.

We think the best part of this hotel is their staffs, they were just amazing, very polite, friendly and helpful! It's happy to see them everyday, and that made this place like home. The owner Sivatha was also a nice man, always patient, he made lots of good recommendations to us, and he offered driver & tours in a very competitive price. I could feel that he was trying his best to make this place perfect, and he really care about his guests.

Oh, and the welcome drink (iced lemon juice) they offered was so good! We ordered it every night!

Anyhow, the rooms at there might not be perfect, but the people at there just made our staying so pleasant.

Me and my friends stayed here for 2 nights and it was a nice stay. I was picked up in the airport with a driver and he drove a tuk tuk. Very different from a tuk tuk in Bangkok, this tuk tuk is attached to the motor bike. Mr. Rathana was the driver who picked me up and he was so friendly. Airport pick up is a complimentary service from the hotel. Very accommodating!

I arrived quite late at night and the road to the hotel was a bit quite and dark. This hotel is hidden behind the night market which is a good location.

The staff were so friendly and greet us everytime we met them. They have a very refreshing welcome drink. Love it! Our room was in the top floor. The room was quite big with 4 beds and a small bathroom. So everyone got their own bed. They provide us with water bottle in the room and tea coffee making facilities.

They have a secret shortcut to the night market, and it is only 5 mins away from the hotel. The breakfast was basic but it's enough to full your stomach before start your long day in Siem Reap. Without a doubt, this is a worth stay.

a good thing we had pick up from airport as it is really secluded, yet a stone's throw from the centre of things. Worried it might be noisy, but not at all, apart from the brief nightly 'starlight barking' of the local dogs. Very nice room with net, cleaned every day. Good value breakfast, working computer with internet. Pool available in nearby guest house. Comfortable bed with net.
Best of all as others have noted, the staff are wonderful. They are educated, intelligent and very helpful. When I asked for a better reading light, one appeared immediately. I wanted to visit a local school and Mr Sivata and the charming Thon (sorry about spelling), sorted it all out through family and connections. Suggestions of where to eat, hiring a tuk tuk for Angkor, nothing was too much trouble, and they even had time to talk about life in general...The little sitting area downstairs was good for meeting up with other travellers.

We stay in a four people rooms. The room is really as big as shown in the picture. The staff will come to greet you when you leave the hotel and come back. This is such a friendly move.
Besides, on the last night of staying, we ask about the time for serving breakfast, which is start at 630 am until 10am. But since we need to check out earlier to catch up our flight, they offer to prepare the breakfast at 6am for us. We bought beer to the room and ask for ice, they din charge for it. Besides, we need to borrow their phone to call to local driver, they also never charge for it. Such a memorable stay at Siam reap in secrets Pavilion. :)
Bad of it: Electricity cut in Siam Reap city.

My wife and I visited the Secrets Pavilion Boutique Villa from the 26-3-2013 till 3-3-213 and the whole visit to Siem Reap could have been a complete disaster with no electricity in Siem Reap for a week ( caused by motor vehicle accident). The owner, Mr Sivata, like a magician, managed to borrow a generator each night for the comfort of the guests. During this crisis the rest of his staff especially Mr Son went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible with a cheery smile and forever apologising for the lack of electricity.
The rooms and rest of the villa are immaculately cleaned and serviced and the staff are extremely conscious of keeping the villa spotless.
Mr Sivata on our arrival took the time to suggest to us possible things to do in Siem Reap and arranged for Mr Son to book the things that we thought would be to our liking.
He also arranged for the hotel tuk tuk driver (Mr Rathanga) to be at our disposal for the day for a very reasonable fee.
Mr Rathanga (Mr Rat) is a gem in himself, he has a very valuable knowledge of Siem Reap and the temples and nothing is too difficult for him. His ever present smile, quick humour and good English made our stay. The villa is situated very close to all of the attractions of Siem Reap by way of a shortcut alongside an open drain but this inconvenience is more than compensated by the advantage of the location.
Tea and coffee making facilities(without the tea and the coffee) are provided in each room but I think that a better idea would be to have these facilities provided in the lobby(breezeway) where the guest could relate to each other their adventures and tips. Can't wait to get back on 19-3-2013.

It was a place suggested by Agoda to our group. It opened in September 2012. It was chosen because of the price and its proximity to Angkor Night Market and the Pub Street which is the center of Siem Reap’s night life. Like so many things in life, the people that you will meet have been predetermined ... even before we were born.
This is a charming Khmer Villa with a very affordable price manned by a very warm and hospitable staff ... all willing to be of help, of service. Genuine customer satisfaction is their aim.
There are only few rooms in this hotel but there’s a room good for a family of four which we took. This includes pick-up from the airport using the tuk tuk ( 15 minutes ) and free breakfast of different ways the egg is cooked ... poached, fried, omelet and scrambled – served with coffee or tea, toast and fruits. Not bad for a very economical room. Though electricity is very pricey in Siem, there is an air-conditioning unit (a relief!) and 2 extra wall fans. Wait ... there is more: free bottled water.
Even the floor of the lobby/restaurant is clean ... they remove their shoes or slippers when entering it but tourists are not required to do so.
The best thing is its proximity to the Angkor Night Market and Pub Street. You can take a tuk tuk going there or walk. There is a “secret passage” or a shortcut to the place. Each room is given a key to the gate so you can enter in and out of the shortcut. As Sothearith Voeun aka Sivata, the owner, said : “it looks not safe but it is”. You will pass by a small pedestrian road but the bad thing is that you have to pass by a “smelly” canal which he always emphasize that will be covered soon.
They have their own tuk tuk driven by Rat whom we are so fond of ... we taught him words like beki and charot ... and he loved it! He became my hubby’s BFF and he told him his life and his frustrations. We particularly loved the story about his dog that died and he cried for a week. He is fun to be with and even gives free cold water after the “temple run”. He is so shy that he doesn’t want to join us for lunch. My heart goes out for people who never took advantage of other people’s kindness. They are always apologetic even when not necessary. Very careful with words. We have developed good relationships with them and I paid it forward by re-styling their lobby.
More than the clean rooms and hospitable staff ... it is the very heart of Cambodia that captured me ... too trusting, too pure, too kind. Some are victims of the landmines ... but doesn’t want to beg ... they would sing and you can pay them. There is pride in their hearts and a legacy etched in their temples. Yes, it is hot in Siem ... but not as warm as their hospitality.
Will I go back to Secrets Pavilion? ... yes, a hundred times more. Siem Reap, don’t lose your charm ... it is what the tourists love aside from your magnificent temples and ruins.

I stayed at this hotel while I was traveling through Cambodia, Thailand and Laos. Overall, my experience was great and I would stay here again.

The rooms look very nice, are clean and have AC. My bathroom seemed a bit old, but was still ok. Only drawback: the bathrooms of two adjacent rooms are connected by a little hole at the top of the wall. While you cannot see through that hole, you can hear what your neighbor is doing in his bathroom, which might be a bit nasty.

The staff was incredibly friendly. I chatted with one of the staff members for 15 minutes, which was a great experience. They also offer tuk tuk rides to the Angkor temples. Getting a tuk tuk for the whole day costs 13 $ which seemed fair to me (compared to the 30$ the taxi driver from the airport offered me). I also booked my bus ticket to Phnom Penh through them.

The location of the hotel is very good as well. It is a 2-minute walk away from the night market and a 5-minute walk from pub street. Only problem here is that you must walk by a stinky sewage canal on your way to pub street and the night market.

Nevertheless, I had a great experience here and would definitely return if I was in Siem Reap.
