“Nice hotel, but don't trust their tuk tuk drivers”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

I fully enjoyed my stay at Chateau D'Ankor, stylish and comfortable - but never trust the tuk tuk drivers parking just outside or called by the hotel - 3 out of 3 experiances - cheating - taking you where you don't want - taking money and then disappearing - better walk a couple of hundred yards away and catch one on the street -

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you indeed for taking time to post a review on TripAdvisor.com.

We are so delighted to hear you had an enjoyable stay while you were at our property and we‘re so sorry to learn about the issue as per your bellow mentioned with regards to the driver. If I understood correctly, you stayed with us in January, 2013, that could be possible that the issue might had happened as we were just one month start . As we were quite new at that time, I honestly agree that some part of our services might not very well organized. However, all drivers now are well instructed by our Front Office Manager, and furthermore each of our Tuk Tuk now has their numbers, so in case there is something wrong, our guest can easily report the case to us then we will take an appropriate action.

We are looking forward to serving you again in the nearest future.
Very best regards,
The Management

We stayed here for 6 fantastic nights. This hotel is beautiful. All the staff were amazing,so friendly, courteous, very helpful and professional. We had a one bedroom room,it was so big, spacious and very clean. The bed was king-size and very comfortable. We had the swimming pool to ourselves most days,it was very big and so lovely to cool off after visiting the amazing temples.
A very good selection of asian and western food at the breakfast buffet. We ate a couple of dinners at the hotel restaurant, some of the best Cambodian food we have had. This hotel is very close to restaurants, massages and shopping. If you want to go to the famous Pub street, it is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We would like to say a Big thank you to all the staff at Chateau d' Angkor
La Residence, for making our stay very enjoyable and memorable. We will certainly stay at this hotel on our next visit.

Fantastic hotel situated just a short walk from the city centre. Very polite and friendly staff, a wide range of breakfast foods (although they didn't always understand what we were asking for at breakfast) and beautiful large rooms.

Came to SR with my twin 12 year old daughters. Booked the 2 bedroom suite. Fantastic value and the only place I could find to offer such a room. It was in short an apartment. 2 big bedrooms 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen and washing machine which came in so handy. After days wandering around in the heat visiting temples we were able to throw our stuff in the washing machine and in the heat they dried quickly on the balcony. The airport pickup was waiting for us on arrival. Cool water was handed to us as we got in the car. Driver was helpful even took us via the balloon place to see if we could get on the sunset flight but it was closed due to wind. Staff were pleasant and helpful the whole time we were there. The pool was lovely and plenty of shade around it. Breakfast there was plenty of choice. Pub street was about 15 min walk but tuk tuks a available outside were great and cheap. We would definitely stay here again. This place is a must for families or even couples traveling together as the 2 bedroom apartment was perfect.

We had a two bedroom suite and could not have been happier with our stay.

I agree with many of the reviews that yes, there is definitely some room for improvement on decor, but really it seems irrelevant with the rest of the hotel room feel. HUGE rooms with a kitchen (which really need a little more in the way of knives etc) and washing machine with washing powder.
It is what it says it is - an apartment (sadly with no sofa!) with the amenities of a hotel. Lovely and cool when it was blisteringly hot outside.

Amazing colonial feel to the hotel, fabulous staff (some improvement in the restaurant staff English would not go amiss) and a superb pool.

Food was fine and I would agree with some of the suggestions to have local food at breakfast as well.

Would recommend to anyone - particularly those travelling with kids.
The price of the hotel is set to go up shortly. I am not sure it would be as good value at double the price.

I stayed here in April what applesauce it was. This hotel is an oasis in a very warm place. The rooms were huge with separate kitchen, lounge area and the bedroom was just lovely. Of course the bed was hard but thats to be expected all over asia. The added bonus was the washing machine we all have to do it sometime. The staff were so helpful they were amazing. The pool area was great the breakfast was fantastic. As you can tell I was greatly impressed. Just a stroll to pub street. A must to stay here.

PRICE/ QUALITY RATE (8/10): 90EUR. Perfect for families
LOCATION (9/10): close downtown (free airport pickup)
ROOM (8/10): Huge room with two bedrooms, living room and balcony. Decoration is poor
BREAKFAST (7/10): Good quality, but lack of local food.
STAFF (7/10): correct
RESTAURANT (8/10): Good quality and variety (but really slow)
AMENITIES (5/10): so, so . It can be improved (at least talking about gel and shampoo)
WIFI (8/10): free and fast. Connection broken too often.

Late check out was allowed to us including a nice shower -it is a must after Angkor visit- (but take care who are you asking for -the first day it was not allowed, but at check out, the morning manager asked us "why so early?" and he allowed us for late check out-)

Room Tip: If you travel with your family, ask for the two bedroom suite.
