“Friendly staff, convenient location, clean rooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Spent 2 weeks at the Chateau d'Angkor as we were visiting friends and also doing some charitable work. Needed a 2 bedroom suite so that our girls could have their own bedroom and bathroom. Not that many hotels in Siem Reap that could accommodate this at an affordable price. Chateau d'Angkor fit the bill in all respects. It's located about 5-10 minutes away from Pub Street and the Old Market via tuk tuk. There are also a number of massage places nearby and so our 14 year old indulged in a daily massage (1 hour massage for around $12). Buffet breakfast was included in the price of the hotel; it offered a number of hot dishes as well as plenty of fresh fruit and pastries. The staff were very helpful in booking reservations for shows and restaurants. The tuk tuk drivers situated outside of the hotel are hotel employees; it's best to reserve one particular driver to drive you around during your entire stay. We tended to have either Mr. Banana or Mr. Bee as our driver. You can haggle for a better price; they'll quote you $2 for a ride to Pub Street but you can bargain them down, especially if you arrange for them to pick you up to return to the hotel. There is also a free shuttle to and from the hotel. Mr. Sopall will pick you up from the airport in a van and then you can reserve the van for the trip back to the airport. The shuttle is free, but we tipped the driver $20 each way because we had a lot of luggage. The rooms were clean and had a kitchen and washing machine. The kitchen had a full fridge/freezer, toaster, electric kettle, and a stove. However, you have to pay extra for gas for the stove. It's also stocked with dishes, utensils and cooking supplies. The rooms are air conditioned and have ceiling fans as well. There is also a safe in the room for your valuables. The pool is a saltwater pool and is ideal after a hot, sticky day visiting the sites. Overall, a pleasant stay in a central location.

Room Tip: All the 2 bedroom suites overlook the pool. For the most privacy and least noise, request a room on...

We stayed in a two bed appartment which was large and well serviced. The staff were extremely friendly and charming and we were deligthed to be giiven a free ride to the airport at the end of our stay. The hotel has a small pool good enough for kids or a short swim to cool down. The restaurant was functional for breakfast and air conditioned. The hotel is well situated just a ten minute walk from pub street, but there is a mini mart, plenty of massage options, banks etc close by on the main road. Overall we found this hotel to be a good option for families needing connecting rooms in a quiet suburb of a lively tourist town.

At $120 per night for a two bedroom apartment including breakfast, this place is really good value for money. Yes, there are a few drawbacks - but overall you are getting a very good deal.

Pros
Location - you can walk into Pub Street area and rest of town easily.
Washing machine - you will need to wash clothes if you are travelling for more than just a few days.
General standard - food, service, pool etc all very good

Cons
Beds and furniture - The reviews mentioning the hard beds and sparse furniture are right.
Wifi and computers - wifi was a bit unreliable and there was just one computer in the hotel - with no working printer when I was using it. Staff nevertheless sorted it out by letting me email a PDF for printing.

Overall, good value for money and the convenience of the apartment is hard to beat.

We stayed at Chateau de Angkor for three nights in April 2014. The hotel is very new and therefore clean and tidy. From the hardness of the beds and furniture I'd call this a Cambodian Style hotel, which is nice if you want a little local character. The rooms are massive and the kitchen and laundry facilities very handy (though why you'd eat in is beyond me). The rooms are a little sparse, however when mentioned to hotel management they informed me that they were anticipating more furniture in the near future. The buffet breakfast is good and the on-site restaurant is satisfactory. Reception works and the staff are helpful. The smallish pool is very welcome after a hot day at the temples, though I might suggest more staff here in the afternoon. One of the best things about this hotel is the location right in the middle of Siem Reap.

The size of the appartments is really exceptional (120 Sq. M.!). The deal on Booking was awesome! We were upgraded us a two bedroom suite and we could invite the kids of my wife free of charge! Location is great and very quiet. Two supermarkets are within walking distance and very convenient since there are cooking facilities in the appartment (but not enough kitchenware though). Very big fridge/freezer. Nice swimming pool with shadow in the mid afternoon. Free shuttle to/from the airport. Good restaurant on site also serving excellent breakfast. Free wifi of course.

The decoration of the huge living room is somewhat minimalist and the chairs to look the TV are made from wood (very hard to sit there for two hours!).

The chateau is situated in the French quarter. It was a worldly presence, charming and quaint at the same time. Staff always charming and helpful. Rooms are big. Daughter joined us and she had her own room and bathroom, with a king sized bed. Grounds are lovely too. V nice and pleasurable for first timers in the land of the temples!!

We loved this hotel! Very spacious rooms, ours had a washer/dryer which was great because we were half way through our trip and needed to do laundry! The breakfast in the morning is really nice & the restaurant downstairs has great food. Quiet place and close to the local night market. Loved it.
