Owner description: Phare, The Cambodian Circus "Amazing vibe & energy, transforming the lives of Cambodian youth" Experience Siem Reap's most unique, authentic top rated (TripAdvisor & Lonely Planet) evening entertainment. More than just a circus, Phare, the Cambodian Circus performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent. Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak's vocational training centre in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by 9 young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. They were greatly helped during that time by an art teacher using drawing classes as therapy and wanted to share this new skill among the poor, socially deprived and troubled youngsters in Battambang. They founded an art school and public school followed to offer free education. A music school and theatre school were next and finally, for the kids who wanted more, the circus school. Today more than 1,200 pupils attend the public school daily and 500 attend the alternative schools. Phare Ponleu Selpak also has extensive outreach programs, trying to help with the problems highlighted in their own tales. Phare The Cambodian Circus offers these students and graduates somewhere to hone their skills and a place to earn a decent wage. Money that will take them out of poverty and give them self-respect and freedom.

Definitely one of the highlights of our short trip to siem reap. Truly enjoyable performance showcasing a group of very talented youths performing world class acrobatics intertwined into a well-thought out story reflecting aspects of society. Value for money, a great cause, located close to town centre.

Thank georgia101

We didnt really know what to expect from the circus when it was mentioned to us but it certainly wasnt this!
Its like a circus/theatre show/acrobatics performance! The performers have such energy all the way though ans put everything into their show.
Honestly cant describe this more but is a must do!

This is a must see. I took by 3 children (age5,7 and 8) and we all loved it. They are seriously cool. My 7 year old just kept saying "Oh wow!" through out the whole performance and my youngest was transfixed in awe. A wonderful performance.

Very good show! We saw Panic “Proniap” in May 2014.
I'm 50 years and visited it with my daughter (21). We both loved it.
Enjoy, it is worth the money (we donated extra money for the project).

We are part of Enfants du Mékong, a Student Center in Phnom Penh. We went to Eclipse show during the festival Tini-tinou. Both french volunteers and khmer students enjoyed a lot!
Our students were very impressed by the show, and told us after : "It was a real cambodian show, traditional and modern! We are very proud of them"
