“An Oasis”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

We stayed here for four nights while visiting the temples at the beginning of our trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. The rooms and the hotel are decorated throughout in dark wood and the lighting is quite dim especially in the bathroom. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I found the bed very hard but my son really liked it. There is good wifi and international tv. The pool is good for cooling off but not designed for swimming. There is always a tuktuk outside the hotel or on the corner by the main road. It cost $2 to go into town. We also took a tuktuk to some more remote temples and hired a car and driver from the corner which was about half the price of one organised through the hotel. Breakfast is good offering continental, American and Asian style food. We also had very good standard food in the restaurant and by the pool. Happy hour drinks are very good value. My only real issue is that the walls and floors are paper thin and the people in the room below were loud. The hotel is well located for the temple area.

Room Tip: Try to find out if there is anyone above or below your room if you want quiet.

We stayed at HanumanAlaya Villa for four nights in June 2013, while visiting the Angkor temples. The hotel was just perfect, comfortable and clean rooms, a wonderful pool area, tasty breakfast and most importantly an amazing staff. I got ill during our trip and everyone in the staff were very concerned about me and engaged in making my recovery as quick as possible, helping me in every way.

After having left Siem Reap for Phnom Penh, I realised that I'd forgotten my shorts at HanumanAlaya Villa. I emailed the hotel, they replied quickly and sent the shorts to our hotel in Phnom Penh already the next day without charging anything for it.

I will highly recommend people to stay at HanumanAlaya Villa while visiting the Angkor temples.

We stayed 5 nights in the Hanuman Alaya Villa as a special treat. We were staying in cheap guest houses most weekends but wanted to splash out for a couple of days. However, it was such excellent value we stretched it to 5 days- and later regretted not stretching it further as nothing matched up to it. The staff fall over themselves to help you and nothing is too much trouble. The pool area is lovely and the pool wonderful - warning - there are no depth markings so ensure non-swimmers are aware that, despite appearances, it does get deep. The breakfast was fantastic and the only place I have been in 6 months where they took care to get my eggs exactly as I like them (most places overcook them). Dinner in the main hotel was good, albeit a bit expensive in comparison to our usual haunts, but the quality shone through. They even surprised me with the most delicious black forest gateau for my birthday.
We had stayed here 5 years previously when it was just rooms and all facilities were in the main hotel. We loved it then and people stayed on our recommendations, but now, it is fantastic.
Although a bit out of town, it was quiet and only a tuk tuk into town. Their laundry is expensive, but 10 minutes towards the local market, there is a $1 per kilo laundry that irons the clothes as well in the price.
if you're only in Siem Reap a few days and are visiting temples, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. A dip in the pool to cool down, a peaceful cocktail and a comfortable room is just what is needed!
We had a balcony room looking over the pool and would certainly recommend it.
Only one slight downside, the doors don't quite fit so we did have a few mosquitoes, but they can be dealt with.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony overlooking the pool for if you don't want to lie by the pool.

We booked the Hanuman Alaya Villa as a birthday treat for my wife. Our room was beautifully decorated and overlooked the pool area. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom toiletries were wonderful. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very special. The included breakfast served by the pool is the best we had during our 6 months in SE Asia. We also ate at the main hotel's Reahoo restaurant a couple of times. Although it is a bit more expensive than some of the Pub Street area eateries, the quality and flavour of the food is definitely a notch up. The Villa represents excellent value for money and is highly recommended for a relaxing and special stay in Siem Reap.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms overlooking the pool are lovely

A lovely hotel at the end of my trip to Cambodia. The River Garden down the road has a great restaurant. The tuk tuk drivers always confuse it with their sister hotel.
The room has a great spec and the pool is a nice extra after a day at the temples.
There is also free pc and internet
