“Beautiful ambience and great products”
Reviewed 10 January 2014 via mobile

We went to the markets last weekend and had a lovely time. The markets are beautifully set up and it was great to walk around and look at the different products - all of which are made in Cambodia. Yes there are expats running a few of the stalls with Khmer staff but everything is Made in Cambodia not Vietnam or Thailand as in other markets. The reason for expat staffing at some of the stalls is that they are NGOs (non govt organisations) that have wonderful programmes to assist many Khmers to earn their own money from creating a product rather than begging on the streets or becoming involved in crime or prostitution. The quality of all the products is excellent and I bought some beautiful original artwork. Well done on a great initiative.

We happened across this market by luck- It's every second Saturday (?), it was small and not too busy. There was a mix of local and foreign sellers and entertainment. We ended up eating supper from a mix of stalls. It was a nice change from the usual busy markets and the items for sale were interesting and of good quality.

Made the long trip from Sihanoukville to Siem Reap and visited this unique market, full of fantastic products, all made in Cambodia. It is set in the beautiful grounds of Shinta Mani Hotel, which in itself is nice to have a look around. I bought many gifts for Christmas, it was so nice to see individual pieces made by Cambodia designers and craftpeople rather than the usual tat you find at night markets. As an added bonus I got to see a circus act and listen to a live band perform. Recommended for all ages and all pockets.

“Not made by cambodians”
Reviewed 18 December 2013 via mobile

Went to market after reading reviews. Was very disappointed. All stall holders seemed to be expats no locals to be seen.
The entertainment while good was also by expats.
Also note market doesnt start till 4pm.

I was excited to go to this market but after one quick walk through left.
Worth going if you staying in area but not for people who are not 5 star Travellers.

“Great initiative and very pleasant”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

This clearly is the best market in Siem Reap. Ok, maybe from a tourists' point of view. The place is very cosy, great choice of lovely products, entertainment and pleasant people. There's none of the usual crap which you can find at places like night bazaars. Genuine products often presented by the producer or artist who made them. No trace of the usual aggressive market atmosphere, no scamming. Really refreshing experience.
On top of that, if i have understood correctly, the organisers invest into supporting the local community. There were kids performing which have been taken from the streets and given support as well as a motivating activity (to prepare the performances).
Every two weeks so if you happen to be in Siem Reap make sure not to miss this place!
