This hotel was such a disappointment after reading all the positive reviews. We were picked up from the airport by an over friendly tuk tuk driver who was very keen to offer his services for our trip. Despite our long journey he keenly arranged to meet us the following day to negotiate this.

Our welcome was warm with a lady who spoke exceptional English. The room was small but acceptable and clean. Breakfast was eaten outside next to the pool where I was badly bitten by Mosquitos and we saw a rat scurrying around. The pool is small but the issue is it is at the front of the hotel and the tuk tuk drivers hang around here meaning you cannot enjoy your swim or breakfast in peace. I also saw a mosquito in the room and asked for it to be sprayed however a member of staff could not see it so would not spray the room.We negotiated a price with sopall the driver who was also insistent that he take us to a silk shop which we flatly refused.

He arrived the next day with his son and asked if it was ok if he joined us, what choice did we have??? We set off son in toe and went to various temples and then said we would stop for lunch and although we were right next to a number of places to get food he insisted we go somewhere else as there were toilets. We arrived (after passing a toilet close by) at a restaurant whose prices were extortionate. When only one of us ordered food the girl looked confused and kept looking at her boss. The food was mediocre and when I paid he rounded it up and I corrected him. If I choose to leave a tip or the difference that's for me to decide not the restaurant owner!! If he wanted to charge more he should adjust his prices and advertise them accordingly. You could hear him telling the others about this as we were leaving and as we walked to a temple across the road he was having a word with sopall. A few hours after we got back we left the hotel for a meal and sopall was hanging around at the pool. On my return I found £70 and $40 missing. My boyfriend complained to the woman who initially greeted us who all of a sudden could not understand a word he was saying. She knew exactly what was going on as the next morning when we went to speak with her she said she had questioned all staff non of which admitted to taking the money. I believe she knew exactly what had happened. The staff turned from friendly and helpful to unfriendly and nonchalant. The feeling completely changed and we felt very uncomfortable there. This is my second visit to Cambodia and I am a seasoned traveller and I have never written a bad review or left a hotel mid stay. I know I should not have left the money in the room; I became complacent however this does not excuse such dishonesty or the treatment we received. I can imagine what the managers response will be after seeing a previous response virtually accusing a guest of lying. I strongly recommend you do not stay at this establishment, they are wolves in sheeps clothing and shame the plethora of good honest establishments in siem reap. What is really insulting is that they must think that we are stupid enough not to know what they are up to. Incidentally, at our next hotel we booked another tuk tuk for much less than here so we were most definitely taken advantage of. Be warned, stay here at your own risk.

Dear Guest,

We regret that you did not enjoy your stay with us during your holiday in Siem Reap!

This is our first negative review with terrible score in TripAdvisor since we opened more than 1 year to serving thousand of customers, here by to response this negative review and just to give some point for our customers

- Lost of money: this was a serous case that we tried to avoid, we do not want any customer lost any single dollar, we have investigated to all our staff but could not find it since the day happened, yes it was our fault that we do not have safety deposit box in the room as we are a small family business under budget that work by staffs from poor family, but soon we will put safety box to all our rooms.

Get back to guest, we ask you are you sure that your money have been stolen from our room? you only came to complain us and warn us to post a negative review and ask for compensation, better you should complain to police and they will in investigate if you really lost your money, it was our experience.

- Mosquito: it is comment in Cambodia that everyone they know, we only can protect our guest and advise them to closed the window every time to avoid they get in to their room, also soon we will have Mosquito nett in our the rooms for our guests.

- Swimming Pool: yes it is located in front our our building and near by the road but it have been block by our private entrance and not everyone and walk pass by, corridor and sun beds are separate, we located it follow by the sunshine for our guest to enjoy if you look to our guest reviews they really like it accept you.

- Tuk Tuk: we have a sign for the lower rate and always inform our guest to negotiate the price before board, you said here we overcharge to you, you may ask the next hotel that you stay how much that they charge for Banteay Srei temple + Grand Tours that is very long distance and take very long time, sure it will be not less than USD 25 for 2 pax and you only paid our drive USD 23.

- Restaurant inside the temple is not related to us, better you post you negative feedback to their name in TripAdvisor not post with us, this seem like you angry with cow but hit the cart, and i'm not sure that other people they think about your review?

Anyway we thank for your feedback and we really need to improve it to serves our guest in a standard service event we are not a luxury hotels, our goal is to develop people teach them how to live in the peace and be a good people and employee, i do not want to say that we are honest but we are in Buddhism and believe in Karma,

Thank you

Theara

A pleasant stay in this hotel. The room is spacious and clean. Air condition working excellent in the hot weather. Total 3 storey high, be warned there is no lift, therefore if you are carrying heavy luggage and nobody is helping you to carry them. Spacious toilet as well however the water pressure on the third floor is very weak which did no justice to the wonder ceiling attached rainbath shower head. Breakfast is tasty and in big portion. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff of course tipping them does count for the good service. One thing to note is rental of car/mini van service from the hotel. Be clear of the hours incurred, prices for hourly/daily. Any specific location which you intend to travel to be discussed with the hotel and driver. Especially for the daily rental it does not mean that you can ask the driver to bring you anywhere you want as long as it is within the 8 hours time-frame. The driver will charge extra outskirt area tourist location (from personal experience). Hotel is located near the old market (slow walk of 15 to 20 mins under extreme hot sun). Some small convenience stalls beside and opposite hotel. From hotel to old market travelling on TUK TUK is only USD1.00 (not any higher).

This was a budget hotel for us and you get a lot for your money. The swimming pool is the first thing you see and it's clean and a joy to relax in. The rooms are small-ish but it was everything we needed and the air-con worked well. The breakfast that is included in the price was mountainous as you get a huge plate of savoury followed but a lovely selection of fruits. The staff were fantastic and can organise any trip you want from reception including government busses going to and fro from Siem Reap and with no added cost from the company's original price. It was a 15 minute walk from the main town but with tuk-tuk's in there plenty we could get there for $1 a time (just be stubborn).

I stayed at this hotel with my friends for 4 nights and all our rooms (2 x double rooms) are on the ground floor. Although the room is not big, fair enough for 2 persons. The room fee is very attractive, only USD15 per person per night and with ensuite bathroom and breakfast!

My room is on the ground floor without any noise. But please be aware that mosquitoes will visit your room! We told the staffs about this and they helped us to remove the mosquitoes.

We visited Siem Reap in January, weather is still cool, however, the water heater in the room didn't supply hot water. It was just relatively warm water and both of our rooms experienced the same problem. We told the staffs about this but the situation wasn't improved much even they tried to fix it. It won't be a problem if you visit Siem Reap in summer. But it may be a problem to those hot water lovers or you visit this place in cold weather.

There is a small swimming pool but we didn't try it. Breakfast is okay and I like they provided many fruits! If you will go to see the sunrise very early morning, just tell the staffs 1 day before and they will pack the breakfast for you!

With the very acceptable room rate and good services provided, it is worth to stay at this villa.

I stayed at Villa Um Theara for 10 nights. The room is very clean with good AC and hot shower. Almost 10 choices foR breakfast, so it's perpect for long stay. The hotel provided me a free pick up from the airport by Tuk Tuk. I had the same Tuk Tuk driver, Chan Oung for my entire stay. He was very reliable and knows Siem Reap like his backyard. I would definitely stay with the hotel again when I retun to Siem Reap in the future.
