“Seriously lovely”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

First stop in Cambodia, this hotel was a lovely way to start. Good location, 5 star resort type hotel, fabulous greeting by the staff and the friendliness never stopped. Beautiful hotel interior and pool, lovely rooms, there is nothing to fault about this place. Tuk tuks out the front entrance so very easy and cheap to get around. Breakfast was great too, something for everyone, fussy eaters, kids and foodies! Suggestion, a little 7/11 shop about a 3 minute walk up the street, turn left as you head out the front gates, the cheapest alcohol known to man! All sorts of things including toiletries too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the lovely spa. Good prices. Mr Sonny especially made our stay special and was there to help with all our needs. He was very professional and personable. Narin at the front desk was also very friendly and hospitable. They made our stay very memorable and would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a great hotel but a hotel is only as good as the people who work there. Congratulations Jasmine for taking the time to get to know us and showing your genuine concern for our well being. We enjoyed the breakfast; catering for all tastes. The boys at the bar were a delight and we would be happy to recommend this hotel to our friends. We hope to return to see more of Siem Reap some day soon.

Stayed in deluxe room with breakfast included.

Pros - beautiful lobby and rooms, comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms, convenient location, nice pool area, smiley staff eager to help out.

Cons - breakfast was a buffet which had lots of choices but quality was average at best (e.g. cordial instead of fresh juices), service often seemed confused (?!), cost of any extras was far higher than anywhere else we experienced in Cambodia - consequently we never booked anything via the hotel or went to hotel spa or restaurant.

Putting aside the incredible value, this hotel stands out as possibly my best hotel experience regardless of price. The staff, without exception, are very friendly, professional, and do everything possible to ensure a great stay. Smart too.

Arrival: very well done and greeted with tea and fruit while all hotel amenities are explained.

Spa: A complimentary 45 minute massage was included in my stay and it was top-notch. I would have used the spa more but ran out of time after a long bike ride around the temples on my last day.

Room: Large and comfortable, good temperature with balcony. Very clean. Don't know if it was b/c of how tired after a day of walking around the temples or the quality of the mattress but I got great sleep here.

Pool: Really nice. This hotel is in the town but you wouldn't know it from serenity of the pool. Also- in the evenings, there is excellent live music at the bar, mellow and good for relaxing after the day. Gives it a nice, old-school feel. Spa is right behind the pool. The layout works well.

Breakfast: huge selection, fresh foods and juices, great omelette bar, my friend said the wok / soup station was great too, excellent attendant at entry and staff all around. Great way to get a bunch of good food in you before hitting the temples for the day, the value of which should not be underappreciated. Also- this was included in the room price.

Connectivity: full business center and wiFi included. seamless.

Another point: as good as these guys are-- and they're really good-- they're probably only going to get better as their desire to learn, improve, and provide a great guest experience is easily evident and refreshing to see.

I'll throw in a token complaint to keep it balanced: There are 2 elevators side by side but they have independent call buttons. Rather than wait for one to come, guests sometimes hit both buttons which causes some wasted elevator stops.

Bottom line: the service level here blows away anything I've received in the U.S. and this hotel dramatically enhanced my entire stay in Siem Reap.

Congrats to all the staff and management-- keep up the good work.

Booked here last june25-27 for 2 nights only ,wish we stayed longer.... We arrived so tired from our 15hrs travel from Saigon - Siem Reap by Mekong bus.. Our pick up was already waiting for us when we arrived at the station & upon arriving at the hotel all the staffs were very attentive, they processed our check in swiftly & while waiting for our room gave us pandan drink & cold towel which is very refreshing coming from a very tiring bus ride... They also upgraded us to suite room with a bathtub outside the balcony which is awesome!!!! The rooms are beautifully designed & spotless & clean. Somdev i think that's his name accompanied us to our room & explained to us all the details like breakfast time 6am-10am, swimming pool, spa , sauna & gym they have also discount coupons fro there spa which are affordable... Wifi is free also.
My 2yr old daughter loved their swimming pool which is huge .... I commend all the staff of Borei from the driver, tuktuk driver mr. John, bellboys, receptionists, managers, waiters & spa personnel,, they were all very attentive to the needs of their guests...
Breakfast has a lot of variety!!!I would definitely come back to this hotel & would recommend it to my friends & family!!!!!

Initially we were put in the new part of the hotel on the 2nd floor, we found it to be a bit loud and our concierge (Jasmine) was very receptive and found us a room on the VIP floor for the next 2 nights. Rooms were clean and big, however they were somewhat dated.

Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast was a wide selection of various foods (ranging from American style to Asian style breakfast), the dishes were constantly refilled and thus, hot food was always present.

WiFi was as good as can be expected (i.e. don't expect lightning fast internet).

Great staff and service!

Hang S, General Manager at Borei Angkor Resort & Spa, responded to this review, 3 July 2013
Dear Canasian C,

A very warm greeting from Borei Angkor Resort & Spa!

We thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to be at your service while you were exploring the Angkor Wat complex and Siem Reap town. We are very pleased to learn that our team members are helpful and courteous through out your stay. I am glad that Jasmine were able to take care of the task when she had been informed. I trust that you have enjoyed our beautiful buffet breakfast; and most of all, you have enjoyed your visit to the Kingdom of wonders.

On the other hand, I must thank you for your kind and generous feedback about our facilities. Certainly, Cambodia is at the stage of developing and very young in the tourism industry. I am very proud to share with you that we are still learning, and we have learnt that whatever we have had is not quite there yet. So, we are still upgrading and fine-tuning it. Furthermore, we are a local grown company which owned and managed by a 100% young talented Cambodian. As you may have already noticed, that we have the right people, giving the fact that we have advance technologies, state of art facilities, and the correct timing, we will become as good as hotel companies in North America, America, Europe, and elsewhere if not better than them. We are just 15 years old in this business. We will not stop right here.

Once again, on behalf of the entire team and company and in the capacity as the general manager, I would love to express of deepest gratitude for your kind feedback. Only this will help us to move to the next level (the kite flies against the wind, without which it will not be in the air).

We hope to be able to welcoming you back to our property again, soon.

Best personal regards,
Nara Thon
