“Great hotel!”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

I stayed in this hotel for 5 days and really liked it.
I was upgraded to these honeymoon suites on the 4th floor for free and had a bathtube on my balcony!! It was awesome.
Hotel provides you with everything necessary: water, toothbrush, fast wi-fi.
Spa center is very nice.
We had breakfast here and the food is ok (not as good as everything in this hotel): one day you can eat something and it will taste amazing, next day the same dish will taste differently.
Special thanks to Mr. Dawind, he is so friendly and helpful! Gave us good advises on where to go and also made a lot of reservations for us and besically tried to do everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

We were very fortunate to have stayed at this amazing hotel for 3 nights. The ambience and spaciousness in all areas was awesome. The staff were some of the most courteous and attentive we have ever experienced and management was most accomodating in every respect. For example, we had a very late flight and despite a large group arriving that evening, we were allowed a late checkout. Be sure to visit "Superman" in the upstairs lounge for happy hour and appys - "absolutely" good value. Also, be sure to enjoy happy hour at the beautiful poolside! Incredible breakfast. Have fun!

As we alighted from our dusty tuk-tuk ride (after a 7 hour bus trip from PP) we were handed welcoming cold towels with which to refresh ourselves and, upon entering the beautiful lobby, we knew this was going to be a special place. The rooms are very spacious (40m +) and, having indicated our intention to stay several days (we had only booked one), manager Sean (who was a great help throughout our 6-day stay) soon upgraded us to a superior which was similarly sized but with separate bath and shower and some more modern touches. I especially liked their very neat LED bedside lighting, TV, and Aircon control system as in so many hotels you struggle with finding the light switches. The only drawback (which might well apply to many of the big hotels here) is that there are no close-by bars or restaurants so you have to tuk-tuk everywhere, but its only a 5-minute $2 ride to Pub St with its many shops, eating places and bars. Another minor gripe is that the wifi was often very slow. But, all in all great value hotel with lovely staff.

Booked our room 4 days ahead of time through agoda.com. Received an additional 7% discount with Citibank (BPI also has special). Booked a Landmark room for only $52.00. In the special instructions section, I noted that the trip was a surprise for my husband's birthday, Father's Day, and our Honeymoon.

Arrival: We arrived at 9:30 PM. Hotel driver was outside with a clear sign to greet us and take us to the hotel. He drove really slow so the ride was about 15 min, which could have taken 10 min. Reception area was a mix of concrete block walls and marble flooring, but was very open and bright. As you walk toward the back of the hotel to the elevators, it begins to change to more traditional wood decorations. All are both beautiful. We were greeted by their Resident Host Mr. Sokheng and when I whispered to him about my "special instructions" he whispered back "I already took care of everything". We arrived in our room to a king size bed of roses and decorative swan shaped towels, a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool, and a vintage clawfoot tub filled with roses. We headed out to Pub Street only 10 min or less away. It was such a nice breezy ride in the tuk tuk. We walked through most of the streets and watched the drunk American and Europeans dance around in front of the bars.

The next morning we woke up late enough to just catch the end of the breakfast buffet. Sausages were pretty good and their soup was the best we had in Siem Reap. They also had a crepe station. The menu doesn't change so by the 3rd day we were kind of tired of it so it forced us to venture to Old Market or Pub Street to look for something more American. We took a tuk tuk from hotel for $12 to the Angkor Temples and visited Ta Prohm where Tomb Raider was filmed. We were going to hike up Banteay to see the sunset, but it was cloudy. So we ate some BBQ skewers with french bread from a local stall and headed to Old Market to walk around and visit the shops while the sun was still up. We returned back to the hotel to freshen up and went back out to eat and found Champey restaurant in Old Market. It was pretty good. Food in Cambodia is like Thai food, but not as tasty.

Next day we woke up at 5AM and hotel found us a Tuk Tuk to take us to Angkor Wat for the sunrise. It cost $12. We didn't see the sunrise because it was cloudy again. As we walked toward the inside, a tour guide asked if we wanted to hire him for $15. I decided to do it, otherwise the husband may have lost complete interest. Glad we did, because we learned things you wouldn't have known just by walking around the temple. We returned back to the hotel by 8:30 AM to have breakfast and went back to sleep until 1PM. Hung out at the pool. Their lounge chairs are either for individuals, couples or even families. They were so inviting. Then we were presented with a bottle of champagne and a fruit bowl, complimentary of the hotel. We received a letter letting us know we were VIP and we could enjoy a buy 1 get 1 free spa treatment.

The third day we skipped Angkor Thom and headed out to the Old Market to eat brunch at Le Boulangerie. We picked up some local spices including Saffron. We headed back to the hotel to enjoy the steam, sauna, cold and hot jacuzzi before our 5pm spa appointment. They had a $50 special for body scrub, body massage, and facial. We get massages every week in Cebu, Philippines and have gone to many places before settling on the one we go to regularly for only $8. So comparing our regular spot to this spa, Borei's massage was nothing special.

MASSAGE: The therapist would run her hands up and down my back, never kneading my tense muscles or rubbing out knots. Her strokes would go from bottom to top. Sometimes she would apply pressure along my spine, but instead of on the side of my spine she'd do it ON my spine, which hurts. A few times she used her thumbs and elbows and dug her nails. I wasn't enjoying it so I fell asleep. My husband who was next to me had a different experience. As the therapist was on top of him massaging his back she would gyrate her hips to her strokes and he could feel her push her pelvic down on his butt each time she stroked his upper back. Didn't make sense why she needed to do that so he stayed awake and alert through the whole massage.

EXTRA SERVICES: In addition to our welcome with rose peddles, free champagne, free fruit basket and buy 1 get 1 spa services, the hotel also gave us a deluxe room to use after check out time. We weren't scheduled to leave until 8:30 PM so they moved us to a smaller room with 2 twin beds. The layout was smaller, regular bathtub that had a shutter that opens up to the bedroom. There was also a balcony but facing the front of the hotel. We slept before our flight, took showers, repacked, and ate before we were picked up by the hotel driver.

It wasn't the Sofitel or the Ritz, but it was perfect and cheap. Would definitely stay again and also found out some of our friends had also stayed there in the past. Highly recommended for couples, families, and friends.

Room Tip: Choose a landmark room facing the pool. It's not noisy and great view of the moon at night.

We stayed three nights, wish it could have been longer. From the very first welcome drink at check in, you knew this was so e thing special. The staff are impeccably trained, are consistent in the quality of service, their welcoming every time you return and the eagerness without intrusion to meet your needs. The hotel is beautifully built with a fusion of modern and traditional craftsmanship, the grounds transformed with lush gardens palm trees and a pool surrounded by single and double day beds where you can lay back in the sun and enjoy a cocktail or a snack from the menu.
