“Perfect home away from home”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

Shinta Mani was my perfect home away from home. The staff is truly caring, pays close attention to every need and whim, everyone is warm and graceful. Rooms are immaculate and grounds are lush. Yummy food at the restaurant. And very close to shops, bars and old market. I travel a lot and this is definitely a gem. Thank you and I will be back!

During our stay in Cambodia we stayed at the Amanjaya Pancam and White Mansion hotels in Phnom Penh. We have reviewed those separately.

We stayed in a deluxe room on the Club side of the Shinta Mani. We could also use the facilities of the Resort side. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout our stay, especially at reception and in the restaurants/breakfast area.

Our room was spacious with double aspect windows and large balcony. Complimentary mini bar consisting of beers, soft drinks and bottled water which were replenished daily. There was an ipod dock with excellent surround sound system, TV and dvd player (you could request dvds and cds from reception). Wifi was very good. Room was spotlessly clean and very fragrant. Oil burners were lit in the room each day. A mosquito plug is also provided if needed.

Breakfast was partly buffet – fruit, cereals, several different types of breads and rolls and then you choose the rest of your breakfast from the menu. The poached eggs, as another reviewer had highlighted, were indeed excellent! Staff in the breakfast area were very friendly and attentive. We also had lunch and dinner at both sides of the hotel. All very nice and well presented. We also went to Hive café for light lunch as well which was fine.

The Shinta Mani is well located for walking to the markets (on both sides of the river) and Pub Street with the numerous bars and restaurants. It’s well located in a quiet area. With all the attention to detail and friendliness of the staff we would not hesitate to recommend staying at this hotel.

We hired a guide and driver through our travel company (Exotissimo) for our tour of the temples and Angkor Wat which is about 7km from Siem Reap. If you have the option we would recommend hiring your own guide as you can take the day at your own pace, stop for breaks/photos when you want etc which is more difficult when you are in a larger tour party. This flexibility meant that our guide took us to the Ta Prohm temple (not on our itinerary) which was really good. For film buffs this was this was one of the temples used in the making of the first Tomb Raider film. You buy a pass for the temples at a ticket office on the road from Siem Reap. You get an individual photo pass so everyone intending to go into the temples needs to go up to the desk. They sell 1, 2 or 7 days passes.

We started our visit in the morning to Angkor Thom via the South Gate, then continued to Bayon Temple. After lunch we visited Angkor Wat which was spectacular. We entered from the east Gate which was quiet as most tour parties enter from the main gate and concluded our visit at the main gate. We did not appreciate how big the sites were and spent about seven hours walking that day. So, if you can, start early and take plenty of water with you. The temples are fantastic and one of the best places around the world we have visited.

We would recommend staying longer in Siem Reap than Phnom Penh as it is less busy. It’s fairly compact and easy to get around. Tuk-tuks are about $2 for each journey made throughout the town.

This is the first time for my wife and second trip for me and we stayed here for 4 days. As soon as we arrived, we knew we picked the right place to stay. The staff were "super" friendly throughout our stay and we loved the greeting with the wet towel whenever we arrived back. The location is excellent and it is close to everywhere we wanted to go. The food was tasty, the pool was nice and we had one of our best spa experiences from our global travels.

To add to our wonder expereince, we also hired a very nice Tuk-Tuk driver called Soeuy (#5 of the hotel's Tuk-Tuk fleet). He was very reliable and polite, not to mention very friendly. It is worthwhile to hire him to take you everywhere you go.

Overall, it was an outstanding experience for my wife and I and we wll come back again for sure!

Room Tip: Rooms next to the pool are the best..Just go outside and the beautiful pool is waiting for you to ju...

What a wonderful place to stay. Excellent guest accommodations, and attention to detail. Food in the restaurant is also wonderful.

As you arrive to the hotel, the staff are prompt to attend to your every need. A refreshing cool, lemongrass scented washcloth is given to you by smiling staff as you're greeted at the front lobby. The welcoming drink is a nice touch as well.

We hope to stay here again when we visit next time.

We had the pleasure of staying here during the first leg of our trip. We went onto Thailand and loved it there, but wished we had ended our trip with Cambodia as it was much more relaxing than the fast paced Bangkok. The Shinta Mani was a fantastic hotel! The reviews are very accurate. The staff was incredible and did whatever possible to make our stay memorable. The room was large and comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was perfect...with a large selection for everyone's taste! We utilized the spa each night after an amazing, but exhausting day exploring Angkor Wat. We had an hour long foot massage each night that was absolutely heavenly!!! We cannot say enough good things about our visit to Cambodia and the Shinta Mani hotel!!!

From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt like home.Staff is very friendly, considerate and attentive.
The breakfast is tasty: you can get food from the buffet and you can order things seperately.
The drinks, smoothies, the lunch, everything is yummy as well.
The rooms and the outdoor facility ( Pool etc.) are very clean.
The best about the room was the bed! Never had such a comfortable bed in a hotel before!
The Spa is also a place to be!
We had a massage an a pedicure and it was worth it!
We have to call on people, to visit this hotel, cause it's not only nice, it also helps young Kambodians and more people should support that!
It was an unforgetable stay!

My wife and I visited Siem Reap for 4days where we planned to explore Angkor Wat and all the other temples. We chose Shinta Mani because of all the wonderful reviews, pictures of the property and what seemed to be a top class property in the middle of Siem Reap town. The property lived up to all that promised and more. We got a nice large room which was tastefully done up and very comfortable. The service was impeccable as ever - starting from the wet towels every time one entered the property along with warm gracious smiles. The staff here is truly exceptional. While we ate most of the meals off, but the breakfast and dinner was excellent - both in terms of choice and quality. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who visits Siem Reap and if we were to go back again, would book this hotel again!
