“I Felt Like a VIP”
Reviewed 20 June 2009

Aftering enduring a long 6 hr bus ride from Phnom Penn to Siem Reap being met by the staff of the Royal Empire Hotel at the bus station was such assurance of good things to come. My friends and I were so please and in awe of the attention recvd at the hotel upon arrival. We were greeted with a welcoming juice cocktail and then shown to our rooms. The rooms are beautifully designed and decorated and the bathroom had both tub and shower. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is less than a year old so word isn't out yet. So hurry and stay before it comes too popular.

This hotel is simply charming. I was travelling with my two teen age daughters and they like this hotel. The lobby had a nice wooden interior so, was our room. The hotel staff are very attentive but they need to improve their english. Before going to Siem Reap, I called the hotel for directions and what hotels were beside it, the one who answered me was of no help, apparently she doesn`t seem to know the word "location" or "direction". Their breakfast was good with a lot of variety which includes omelettes, congee, vegetables, different kinds of breads and pastries, some fruits, coffee, tes and juices. Room service was also good.
Their swimming pool is clean, seems well maintained with just the right size and depth(for me, since I`m Asian, I don`t know our caucasian counterparts will feel the same).
It is easy to get a ride to town via tuk tuk ( one dollar one way). It is more or less 3 km to old market.
I do suggest that they provide ironing facilities for guest.
Another thing, they have a nice wooden staircase. We were given a room on the third floor but for some reason my daughters enjoyed going up and down the flight of stairs.
I , on the other hand, liked their medium sized elevator.
They also have a small fitness center at the side of the swimming pool. I wanted to try it but the mind was willing but the flesh was weak.
Overall, we had a good stay at this hotel.
