“Great value, great room, great location , GREAT Staff....Perfect!”
Reviewed 25 June 2011

OK we rate a hotel based upon: Location, Free Wifi, Food quality, Room cleanliness, Staff attentiveness/assistance, Price (value for money), then 'any 'above and beyond the call of duty' stuff! From the get-go Mandalay Inn responded quickly, courteously & professionally to our emails booking the room and answering our queries (as a well-travelled couple - inc. Asia - but NOT having done Cambodia before) . On arrival in Siem Reap airport (cute!) our Tuk-Tuk man (FREE from Mandaly Inn!) collected our bags then whisked us to the hotel. We checked in paid in advance ($13.50 per night!) and got the room., on the 2nd floor overlooking x-roads/river with Fan AND Air-Con (which worked VERY well indeed after a day of Templing!). Room was a fair size with en-suite (Asia style) with shower/wc/basin all in a 'wet-room style. All facilities worked perfectly - 2 double Asia style socket was useful -plus a TV with many channels (some UK). Wifi was fast and reliable (using i tNow for thi sreview!) We had an evening meall and several tasty breakfasts here (great value and quality - I recommend the banana pancakes with honey!) . Yes you can shave a $1-2 off by walking into the market/Pub St areas to get breakfast if you prefer. The walk takes 2-3 mins and you can get the choice of your life (and buy necessities/clothes/trinkets) at the market. We also used Mandaly Inn's Tuk-Tuk driver for Angkor & temple hopping - he was careful, courteous, helpful and well priced ( $7-13 for 1/2 - 1 day driving). Cleaner cleaned daily with new towels provided. Staff were attentive, responded to queries and generally interested and friendly. Recomend you bring (or buy locally) cheap shower gel as soap provided may not suffice. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Mandalay following a personal recommendation from a fellow traveller who had stayed there a month before. We weren’t disappointed!

The Mandalay provides a free pick-up service from the bus station if you give them the name of the bus company and your arrival time which avoids you having to deal with the touts that crowd around as soon as the bus arrives.

The room was basic, but clean and very reasonably priced at US$15 per night. Breakfast not included, but hardly suprising at this price and doesn’t break the bank.

The Mandalay staff were very helpful and were able to engage the services of a local Tuk Tuk driver on our behalf to visit the Angkor temples – very useful as this ensures you get a fair price!! We had the same Tuk Tuk driver for all 3 days that we visited the temples and were also able to use him to visit the War and Landmine museums (definitely both worth a visit!).

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the Mandalay and would definitely stay again if we revisit the region. Only drawback was the tiny bathroom with “wetroom” shower. Although these are common in the region, the size of this bathroom made it more awkward than most.

We decided to stay here based on various reviews on Trip Advisor - the staff were excellent - it was in a great location and whilst it may have been more expensive than other places was still great value.

We stayed here in late January 2011 for 5 nights, and I would higly recommend it.
Super lovely, friendly, and helpful staff. When we decided to switch from an A/C room to a fan room, we couldn't manage to get the timing right so they just told us to not use the A/C, just our fan, and they would only charge us for a fan room. Honour system.
Our room wasn't overly big or fancy, but completely adequate and kept very clean. And for the price, it couldn't be beat. Sometimes people came home drunk and loud, but this is no fault of the guesthouse.
Free wifi - super handy if you've got an ipod/laptop etc.
It's also right beside the Night Market, which is where all the major shopping and eating is done.
There are so many places to choose from in Siem Reap, and more guesthouses are going up all the time. Rest assured with Mandalay you're getting great service and a good clean room.

The Mandalay Inn in Siem Riep is a wonderful guest house. The rooms start at around 5 US dollars for non-aircon or 14 for aircon. The rooms are clean and nice. They have two computers that are free for guests to use. Its not just the rooms that makes this place nice its the staff. They have a travel guide attached to the hotel and they have the best prices and are so helpful. All of the staff speaks very good English and could not be friendlier. After hearing some horror stories of places around here its nice to find a nice/clean one. Its close to pub street but far enough where you do not get the noise. Would stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting Siem Riep.

Decent hotel to base in for Siem Reap. Staff unfortunately very wooden; possibly a result of owner being very stiff with them. Rooms are ok, nothing mouldy. Shake down the bed before leaving as bedsheets very colourful, can miss seeing your stuff still on the bed. If you're looking for a discount, you'll have to try other places as the staff have no authority to lower rates unlike at Popular. to get to Mandalay: after walking pass old market, cut through roundabout, follow road left; it will turn right. 10m later Mandalay will be on left.

Room Tip: Take upper floor rooms, better condition

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights at $13 USD per night. It was a good base to rest for seeing the temples of Angkor.

The best part of this hotel is how affordable it is. It offers a good location in Siem Reap with easy walking access to the restaurants and pubs, as well as easy access to the temples. There is a bicycle rental across the street too in case you wish to tour the temples on bicycle which I highly recommend.

That said, do not expect much in terms of accommodations. The rooms are small, the cleanliness is acceptable for the price. The staff was always very courteous and helpful.
