“Great location, service, clean room”
Reviewed 15 December 2008

We found out this guest house by reading reviews on this web site. We booked our room through the guest house web site: http://www.mandalayinn.com/. We also arranged bus station pickup during booking. We got confirmation fairly quickly. And when we arrived at Siem Reap by Mekong Express, a tuktuk driver with my name on a board were waiting for us. He helped with our luggage, and we arrived at the guest house in about 10 minute drive. They showed us our room, it is a little small, however, it is adequate for us. It is very clean. It has air condition, shower and a small TV. Everything works fine. The shower water is good too. We stayed there for 4 nights. We used it as a base for our Angkor Wat visit. They also helped arranging a car to Banteay Srey, Kbal Spean, Beng Mealea and Roluos Group, and a tuktuk for our Angkor big/small circuit visit. All are done very professionally. It turned out that we had the same driver for car and tuktuk: Mr. Synon Korng. Very good service.

They also sell Mekong Express bus tickets. And Mekong Express will pick you up at the guest house. So, this is very convenient.

The location of the guest house is very good too. It is about 5 minute walking distance to the Pub street, yet it is located on a quiet street, so, there would not be so much noise during night.

All in all, it is a very good place. Friendly staffs, good service and location. It is great place to be used as base for Angkor Wat visit. We enjoyed our stay there, we would definitely recommend it to our friends.

We stayed four nights here and loved it. Our room was good, clean and had everything we needed. It was a little small but it wasn't a problem. The hotel is run by a Cambodian lady and her Burmese husband. She is the nicest, friendliest & most helpful hotelier we have met on our long travels through SE Asia. Her husband is equally nice but not around as much as her.
We booked a guide and transport for the temples, and we booked a taxi to Poipet, all through the hotel, and all was good and very reasonably priced.
This hotel is excellent value, totally hassle-free, and a great base for exploring Siem Reap, I couldn't recommend it highly enough...

A close friend recommended us Mandalay Inn for our group trip to Cambodia on October 2008. We're a group of 20 young adults on a budget trip. We stayed 3 nights in Mandalay Inn Guesthouse and everyone of us were glad that we've stayed there.

We arranged for Mandalay Inn to pick us up at the airport, and on our arrival at the airport, two van drivers were waiting for us and drove us directly to the guesthouse.

The rate that we've got from the manager are as follows:
$20 USD for Family Room (3 pax),
$18 USD per night for Twin and Double (2 pax)

Both the manager and the lady owner were very friendly and helped us book tuk-tuks for our Angkor Trip and vans for the Tonle Sap trip. We also bought our bus tickets to Phnom Penh from the guesthouse's manager. Our bus tickets included a ride from the guesthouse to the bus station.

The rooms were equipped with AC, hot/cold showers, TV, ceiling fan, and a closet for hanging your clothes and towels.

The most important thing is that the bathroom was clean and with hot/cold showers. Exactly just what we needed after a whole day out there.

Although the room was small, it was not an issue for us, since we were out all day visiting the temples and sightseeing.

They also have a computer in the living room downstairs for us to checked our emails. During the night, they locked the front gate, but if you plan to party til late, not to worry as one or two of their staff will be at the reception to unlock the gate for you.

Besides the manager and the lady owner, all their staffs were very friendly and polite. All of them speaks fluent English. One of their staff we talked to were taking up full time Management course at a nearby University.

We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Siem Reap. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable stay with great value!

This the 3rd time we have stayed at the Mandalay Inn. It continues to be the most honest hassle free, friendly, great valued, great location budget hotel in Siem Reap. a/c double US$18. Very clean. The 2 children "Watun" (boy) and "Aim" (girl) are the most delightful kids.

This is a not a bad choice in the one to two star range. The price is right and the staff is unfailingly polite, helpful and just downright glad to see you. If you've just taken the overland route from Thailand via Mafia Taxi, you'll know this really means a lot.

The hotel is close to the heart of the city and close enough to tons of decent shopping and eateries that you can walk. Of course the hotel is all about arranging a trip to Angkor or onward to Phnom Phen, if you need it.

If you are looking for a high quality western style place to stay, I'd recommend giving this hotel a miss. But if you want to save a couple of bucks and stay in a decent, friendly place, this is your hotel in SR.

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel.

Room:
Clean, approx 20 m² (bathroom included), hot water. It's a minimum but I was just was we need.
We were disappointed because one day, 2 blocks away there were a funeral ceremony, there were loud music from 7am to 6pm!

Staff:
Really nice staff: helpful and really friendly.
But we got 3 problems:
1 - We reserved 2 bikes for the day after, but the day after the staff said: "Sorry, no more bikes", so I had to yell during half an hour and one hour after the staff got us 2 bikes!
2 - The first morning the maid woke up at 9am because there were speaking really loud in the corridors. I complain to the staff and we didn't have any problem the days after.
3 - We reserved a bus to Phnom Penh, the staff said we have to be in the hotel from 11:30 to 12:00 for the pick-up. We present ourselves at 11:45 and the staff said: "Sorry, you are late, the bus went without you". We were furious and one more time I had to yell so they finally called the bus to pick us up. Why didn't the staff ask the bus to wait for us?

Location:
Really good: 200m to the central market and to the best restaurant in town.

Service:
Bikes rental (Angkor Wat is only 7km from the hotel), one computer is available for free to check internet, free Wifi, Tuk-Tuk rental (12$ for a whole day), free pickup at the airport
There is no laundry service so they suggest to go in a guesthouse opposite to the hotel: we went there but I was a mess: I don't think they used soap and some of our clothes haven't been washed! Don't use the laundry service opposite to the hotel!

Conclusion: in spite of our problems with the staff (I think it's just misunderstanding), I recommend this hotel

We stayed there for 3 days in a Queen size bed a/c room for USD16 a night. Hotel provides pickup from the airport via tuk-tuk FOC. It is worth-it considering you would have to pay USD 4~7 if you take your own transport from airport to downtown.

The room condition is good. The a/c is definitely needed for a hot season in July, ceiling fan a bit noisy and air will be a bit stuffy if you turn on the fan without a/c powered on . Room is clean. We were placed in 4th floor, the highest, a bit of climbing up each time. There is Gym facility at 5th floor open space(did not try out, not the intention to workout for this trip anyway). Reception was very helpful, there is phone at each floor corridor for guest to call reception in case of any thing not working or to request for hot water, extra towels etc. Internet is provided for free(though only one PC available, need to queue up sometimes). WIFI is good. I could get the signal from my 4th floor room but best signal is of course at the lobby. Two hotspots were available, passwords protected, need hotel manager to enter password for you. Breakfast NOT provided but you could eat at its restaurant. Price is reasonable compared to other restaurants at this area. Simple Asian dish cost USD 1.5 ~ 3.0, Siem Reap's standard for foreigner!

Hotel manager was very helpful to help in arranging local tour to temple by arranging the tuk-tuk. The hotel charge us USD12 for a full day temple trip - Mini tour which covered main spots like Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and sunset at Phnom Bakhen. The tuk-tuk driver will bring you anyway you like, include coming back during mid-day to hotel if you find it is too hot to go around during noon ( it was indeed! ). They also arrange tour to other places like Tonle Sap lake trip etc and help to book bus ticket. Their price is reasonable, save you the hassle to negotiate with tuk -tuk outside. (of course, you could get cheaper price with tuk-tuk from the roadside, but no guarantee of quality such as communication)

The hotel is only 100~150 meter from Old Market(But I prefer Center Market(800~1000 meter from the hotel) which is more airy and more choices of things to buy)

Overall, perfect place to stay for budget travelers.
