We loved Mandalay Inn. It's a beautiful colonnial with hardwood everywhere, and has the feel of a house rather than a hotel even though it's pretty big. Spotlessly clean, cozy common areas downstairs, nice restaurant with great food. Owners super friendly and helpful, very honest and straightforward when arranging tours. Wifi downstairs but not in our room, and was a little slow. Great location right next to river and market.

I was recommended the Mandalay by a couple of friends who have stayed there, and I was certainly not disappointed.

One of my main concerns setting out on this trip was security of my photography gear, so I was prepared to pay a little more to get a good single room where I could lock stuff up etc.

The room was very clean, nice bathroom, and I got one with hot water and air conditioning (a/c was sooo needed!).
The rooms are cleaned daily too, meaning you always felt fresh in your room. The girls who did the cleaning were lovely, often singing as they did so.

I never had any issues with security; I kept everything locked up, nothing ever went missing etc.

The owners are lovely people. I emailed in advance to book the room (which I advise doing if you want one with a/c, oh and a window apparently..!) and they were very communicative and prompt.

The Mandalay is located some two minute's walk from the Old Market and maybe four minutes from Pub Street, so it's very central.

The restaurant downstairs makes good food and has plenty of cold drinks on hand.
Oh and the two bottles of water left in your room each morning by the cleaning girls was a nice touch.

At $14.50 US or so (with the 10% discount for staying over a week), the room wasn't cheap. But it was very nice, and I'd happily pay that much again if I went back for another two weeks.

Highly recommended!

Good little hotel with an extremely friendly, helpful staff. They will literally go out of their way for you.
Room was 18 dollars a night but that was high season prices.
Rooms were basic with views of a brick wall but clean and comfortable.
The hotel offered tuk tuks for Angkor tours for 12 dollars which is a bit cheaper than we saw elsewhere and bicycles for 1.5 USD per day. Very affordable.
No breakfast but they did pick us up from our bus.

A few blocks from the happening Pub street and a plethora of other excellent street activity, the Mandalay Inn was a superb find for us. It's located on a quieter block, and seems perfectly safe. The place is spotless; you have to take your shoes off before entering the guesthouse. The staff is very friendly, and we loved chatting with the owners, who not only gave us recommendations for Siem Reap, but for Phnom Penh as well.
The room was very comfy, with hot water, a mini fridge and TV. We had one meal at the restaurant downstairs and were satisfied with the quality of the food. The internet downstairs worked perfectly.
The guesthouse also booked our Angkor Wat guide and tuktuk, in addition to booking our bus ride to Phnom Penh.
I would highly recommend this place to friends.

Lovely, clean hotel in a nice quiet area of Siem Reap but only a short walk away from the market and main strip. Rooms well sized and cleaned every day. Free wifi in hotel. Restaurant downstairs served tasty Burmese food. Would recommend

I liked the guesthouse. The room was small but had charm and very well priced for its location. It was quiet and efficiently run. There is a little tourist booth on the outside that will organize absolutely everything for you while you are in Siem Reap. The only problems I had there was the internet was unuseable, far too slow but at least it was free of charge. Also the food was below avergae. I ate there once and the thought of eating again nearly sends me comatose. That doesn't really matter as there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from in Siem Reap and many are well within walking distance of The Mandelay.

We walked into Mandalay Inn without reservations and were extremely impressed with the honesty and level of service that the reception provided. As this guest house does not provide commission, it is no wonder that our airport taxi "didn't know" where it was - study the map yourself so you can direct the ride!

It is a guest house, so those expecting luxurious accommodations should be prepared - the bathroom does not have a separate stall and the hot water is provided through an electric heater attached to the wall. The room was clean however, and the lobby was extremely clean (had to remove your shoes upon entering!)

The reception was extremely helpful in suggesting places to eat and get massages, without any pressure. Even questions about tours were simply answered informatively without the sales pitch. Very refreshing, and definitely a great $18 spent!
