“Journeys Within B&B a quite retreat between two hectic Tours”
Reviewed 5 March 2010

We had book adventure tours in Thailand and Vietnam and were looking for a quiet retreat between the two. We booked four nights at the Journeys Within B&B in Siem Reap and were so glad we did. We worked out an itinerary with Andrea which allowed us to see Angkor Wat, Angkor Tom, Bayon Temple and Tonle Sap Lake but also gave us time to relax by the pool and walk around the town. The guide Andrea booked for us was very knowledgable, outgoing and spoke excellent english. All the staff at the B&B were very friendly and helpful, always smiling, provided service plus and also spoke execllent english. The kitchen staff servered delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The B&B is a quiet oasis on the out skirts of town that I highly recommend to anyone going to Siem Reap.

This is a special place run by special people. It's small so reserve early. The grounds are charming. The pool is big and wonderful. Meals are excellent and they ask you to order well before each meal so the ingredients are fresh. The rooms are fabulous. They even change the towels 3x/day. Location is a 5 min ($2) tuk tuk ride to "downtown" Siem R which is bigger then I expected with quite a few big hotels catering to tour buses to the sights. But here's the best part. They've built a school next door that offers courses to Cambodians and if you feel the spirit you can volunteer to help with English language classes or art classes.
Also, Journey's Within runs a tour company that specializes in SE Asia. If you want to put together a customized itinerary, JW has guides and offices in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Burma. We recently returned from a 5 week trip we put together jointly, accommodating our likes/dislikes. It was the trip of a lifetime with wonderful guides, small hotels/bbs and well run.

We've just returned home from a fantastic holiday in S.E. Asia, which was planned from start to finish by Journeys-Within Tour Company. The highlight of our trip was our stay in Siem Reap at Journeys-Within B & B. From the first moment we enjoyed wonderful hospitality and kindness. I will gladly recommend them to my friends and family. The accommodations are first rate, and the food delicious. My only regret is that we didn't plan a longer stay. Andrea and Brandon Ross are to be commended for not only this wonderful establishment, but also for the work they are doing within the community.

My friend and I were recommended to Journeys Within to organize a personalized trip to Cambodia and Laos. Andrea, the owner, got back to us quickly and gave us a six day itinerary hitting the sites we wanted to see in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Luang Prabang. She booked the hotels, tour guides, cars/transports and airlines. It was a great deal and she was very open to accomodating our needs and changes to the itinerary (we only gave her a month to put this together before we left). The Journeys Within B&B is very close to Siem Reap's ruins and away from the hubbub of hotel row yet still close enough to everything and tuk tuk's at the ready. Both Andrea and her husband Brandon met us both and were very nice. They had great food (we toured so much we ate most meals there) and the rooms were very spacious. I especially loved swimming in the evenings in the infinity pool. They also did all our laundry for free which was a big perk. I highly recommend the B&B and using Journeys Within to book your tour to Asia!

From the moment we were met at the Siem Reap Airport by our driver, for the next five days, to the greetings we regularly recieved from every member of the staff at Journeys Within B&B to the sadness we felt as we said our good-byes, we could not have asked for a more pleasant place to stay and use as our jumping off point to the incredible sites of Angkor Wat, and other temples, and the city of Siem Reap, with its markets and many eating establishments. However, we could have stayed at the B&B for all of our meals! The breakfasts were wonderful and the lunches and dinner we ate there were delicious. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, not to mention all the water you need is supplied, and laundry service is complimentary. But above all, what stands out is the delightful, friendly staff; all of whom worked together to make our stay memorable.

We have fond memories of our stay at Journeys Within. It has been two years since our December 2007 visit to Siem Reap and if we ever have the opportunity to return, we will stay nowhere else but Journeys Within. This is a wonderful place - don't miss it - you will be delighted by the people you meet, you will enjoy relaxing in the pool, you will be well fed and cared for, and you will experience Siem Reap in a way not possible if you stay at a bigger hotel.

Our weekend stay at Journeys Within B&B was wonderful!

Brandon and staff' welcomed us into the JW experience, which truly captures the meaning of community. It's so fitting that JWOC (Journeys Within our Community), the NGO next door, naturally evolved from the philanthropic work that Brandon & Andrea (who was traveling w/ their children during our stay) have developed during their years in Cambodia.

We--a mother and 17-year-old daughter( a teacher and student at an international school in KL, Malaysia)--took the travel recommendation from another teacher that JW would create a meaningful experience -- even if we only had a 3-day weekend. We came focused on seeing the temples, yet left feeling touched by the resilience and spirit of the Cambodian people, as well as by those committed to supporting sustainable positive changes in their lives!

And so...the journey began with a welcoming juice and welcomed conversation about confirming the short course we had decided upon via email exchanges w/ both Brandon and Andrea. Despite arriving at 9:30am, we were warmly greeted and accompanied to our room for a freshening up. We felt further welcomed into the culture by the gift of the Kroma, traditional Cambodian scarves, artistically placed w/ plumeria/frangipani in our room, w/ a sweet note of explanation.

As planned, after breakfast, we headed out to the market and Artisan Centre. We returned by early afternoon for a desired swim, R&R and late lunch before heading out to Angkor Thom, and surrounding small temples. We stayed by the moat for sunset and returned to town. We topped off the eve w/ a dessert at the Blue Pumpkin--a fun-spirited cafe--w/ great breads, pastries and ice cream sundaes.

The following day, we had to forego our plan to experience the fish farm and floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, due to short-lived (thankfully) fever, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, based on all heard. Hope to return for that experience and more...We were able to visit Angkor Wat and were in awe hearing the history and seeing its majesty.

In total, the thoughtful touches, the reflective local guide and staff( who have grown up in challenging years in Cambodia's history), as well as Brandon's & Andrea's vision confirmed for us that this is the way to travel and feel connected to the culture!

We hope to have other Journeys while living in the SE Asia region...the JW spirit is contagious!
