“not a positive experience”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

we have just spent three nights at the Meridien and aside from the staff trying their best,we have very little to commend it.The corridors were dirty and the bedroom we had been allocated to looked tired and smelled unpleasant. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and we found thick black mould under the complimentary toiletry tray. When we were moved to another room the smell of damp was still overwhelming and there were cobwebs on the ceiling. The hotel is in desperate need of some investment.Room facilities were the bare minimum .The towels were thin and cheap.
Breakfast was below average and compromised by staff using their bare hands when replenishing the buffet.Difficult to find a place to sit down as tables were left uncleared.Grounds and pool area very impressive....but could not be used in the afternoon after visiting temples as only 20 or so loungers were provided and nowhere else available to sit down.Tried the Spa for an hour long facial but felt a bit disappointed as half of that time was spent alone with a face mask for company.
Paid 75$ to retain occupancy of the room till 6 o'clock p.m. only to be subjected to construction hammering all afternoon.
Restaurant food was not acceptable.
This is not a 5* hotel.

We got cold towels and welcome drinks at check-in which was nice. I was told they tried to find me the best view of the hotel since I am SPG Gold, so we got a perfect view of the pool on the second floor. Friendly staff throughout the hotel, everybody greets you when you pass by. I don't know why, but we found the room was not as great as the other Meridiens we stayed at in Thailand, but is very spacious and probably is amazing by Cambodian standards. We did like how there is a thermostat next to the bed to easily turn the temperature down at night. It's the closest hotel to Angkor Wat, but still not walking distance.
The pool is beautifully designed, the bridge and the stone crossings are a very nice touch.
Breakfast buffet was great. Lots of fresh fruit, bread and cereals. The hot food selection were different both days we went. There was a made-to-order Korean Pancake section one day and there was a miscommunication with the staff thinking my boyfriend wanted normal pancakes. He actually went inside a room and got my boyfriend normal pancake batter! Also, the bacon is a must try! I try my best not to eat too much because it's fattening, but I couldn't resist getting a second helping. We were talking to another couple in a bar that night and they mentioned that Cambodia is known to have good bacon, so I wasn't imagining things.
Another thing to recommend this hotel is they have a fruit refreshment service and snack service. I never saw any of it because I don't like having my room serviced, but when we checked out, we saw the service cart of fruits and it looked amazing.
The grounds are huge and they have a cute little garden which is perfect for those who wish to stay somewhere quiet. If you're looking for somewhere closer to the action, stay in town because you really won't be able to walk anywhere from the hotel.

We stayed at Le Meridian for 3 nights and thought the hotel and the lobby especially were very impressive. It's close proximity (10 mins taxi ride) to the Angkor Wat temple further adds to this hotel.

The rooms however cannot be classed as 5*, they are simple and clean but need updating with regards to the room and bathroom decor. The fan was broken in the room so was unable to circulate the AC making it quite stifling at times.

The best part of this hotel was their swimming pool, beautiful to look at and very relaxing sun loungers and beds added to the lovely pool.
The service is also impeccable, nothing less than you would expect from a hotel in the Far East.
TOP TIP: if you are looking to book the sunrise Angkor wat tour, ask your tour guide to drop you back at the hotel for breakfast between sunrise and visiting the temples as they do not open until 8am.

I only stayed here one night and didn't even see the pool shown in the photos, so this review should be considered in that context. The hotel is in a great location to visit all of the sites in Siem Reap and easily reached from the airport. It is set in very large grounds and was very peaceful. We had a twin room with slatted wooden dividing doors between the bedroom and the bathroom - which I didn't particularly like as I value privacy - but otherwise fine. The breakfast was good and we had a lunch there that was good and reasonably priced.

Our expectation for small city like Siem Riep is not much but Le Meridien hotel can make us feel like we are in a big city!
Near to every where we want to go, nice environment and good food
Lovely garden and swimming pool.

Over all Le Meridien Siem Riep is a best choice hotel in Siem Riep

Room Tip: since the hotel only have 2 stories ,so it will appear good view from every level..and in the middle...

We stayed at Le Meridien for three nights while visiting Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. After a long flight to Singapore and a five hour wait for our flight to Siem Reap we appreciated the welcome from the staff at the hotel. Our room was excellent and the location of the hotel central to the town and the temples. Far enough from the road to be quiet. Breakfast was great with a diverse selection. The staff were extremely helpful with any of our questions. Highly recommended.
