“Service synonymous to trust, goodwill and overflowing smiles”
Reviewed 26 May 2012

Service from the staff of Golden Temple Villa is synonymous with trust, goodwill and overflowing smiles. We stayed there from May 20-25, 2012 and not one day passed that we found nothing to complain about but just about everything to praise. From reservation done in the comfort of our home in Manila, Philippines via the internet to our last step out of the compound, our comfort was the staff's only concern. An off hand remark during reservation that we are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary in the villa and at Siem Reap merited a personalized welcome to our room complete with lotus flower petals shaped as hearts on our pillows welcoming us (Special thanks to Sopheak Hong). Indeed, the villa deserves all compliments received from guests. Strategically located a stone's throw away from the bustling old market, night market and pub street combined with low rates, good food and excellent service (not just from the reception people but from housekeeping to restaurant staff to tuktuk drivers as well), it's no wonder why advanced booking is necessary. We have already invited all our Filipino friends planning to visit Siem Reap to stay in Golden Temple Villa if they want to experience extravagant service on a budget.

The positive figures here speak for themselves. All these good reviews are in place and well earned! This place is a true gem! Incredible value for money here. After staying in basic accommodations for weeks during a long trip through Asia, this place made us almost feel like Hollywood stars. So much details and attention for their guests. Very well decorated as well (not that that is so important, but it sets your mood to very happy instantly). Beside a free welcome drink, a free massage is one of the examples to provide to you reading this. Staff is very helpful (never received E-mail replies this swiftly and in very understandable English in Asia anywhere).
We were surprised by the feedback forms we received multiple (room, restaurant) to help them progress their level of excellence even further. Everything they have done and arranged for us there was Top-Notch. It felt like a five star experience, but you pay for so much less.
But we came from very less accommodations before staying here.

The bathrooms (we switched rooms, because we extended our stay) can do with a new paint job though. But again if you compare this to the other accommodations we have been in, they are on top of the ladder. Foolish not to stay here!

We loved our stay here so much that we would probably head back to just to stay here. The rooms were spacious, bright and they gave us a great deal. It was my mothers birthday so they decorated the room for her, and got a birthday cake (which I paid for). The staff were very helpful with everything and always greeted us with a smile. Our Tuk Tuk driver who had been arranged from the hotel, Mr Two (0977547272) was a very patient man who added to our excellent experience. We ate at their restaurant which was very well priced. Overall a great stay here!

My sister and I stayed here for two nights in mid may. The first night we arrived it was pouring with rain and we had been travelling for 24hrs so were very hungry. The restaurant downstairs served us a delicious meal for two for under $5. The welcome drink was also lovely. Throughout our stay the staff were warm and helpful. We were able to use the pool at the Golden Temple hotel for free, a short walk away. This was wonderful as we were treated as their own guests. The rooms a very clean they also have a big balcony if you want to sit out or leave any washing to dry. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was our first stop in Asia so they have set the standards very high!

We had such a great time on the last few visits we decided to bring our best friends along this time! As expected Mr Chan and his wonderful staff provided the most comfortable stay possible in Siem Reap. The accommodation, food, service and warmth from the helpful staff running around delivering happiness to everyone was amaaazing!! We booked tours and tuk tuks to anywhere we wanted to go with absolutely no fuss. Can't wait to go back again:). p.s. the loc luk is a must try!!

We stayed two nights in room 08. The biggest issue we had was the toilet kept backing up and water in the sink wouldn't drain. It was pretty foul smelling. The room is right next to the kitchen so you have a lot of noise early and late.
Sopheak, at the front counter, is a very welcoming person. She makes every effort to handle any queries or concerns you have. She was, frankly, the saving grace for the hotel. There are some other front staff working there who are quite rude, or complacent. They need to take a leaf out of Sopheak's book. In fact, I would be putting her in charge if I were management as they need to clean up the attitudes of others a bit.
The food at the restaurant is amongst the cheapest and tastiest in town: you can try lok lak and amok which are traditional Cambodian dishes.
However, if you're in the mood for Mexican, head over to Viva for cheap tacos and margaritas.
The Golden Temple has nice rooms, and is clean aside from the sewer not working: hopefully that was a one off.

This is one of the few places I have stayed in south east Asia where I thought ive got more then I paid for! The staff were amazing....the food in the restaurant was sooooo reasonably priced and also gorgeous! The ambiance is romantic and the atmosphere friendly! There was nothing that could have been done better...from the airport pick up, the welcome drink, the free massage, the friendly staff the free wifi.... Everything ! Is definitively go back! Xxx
