“Great hotel”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

I stayed in the FCC for 16 nights and have to say was overwhelmed by the service and accommodation. Most people only stay a couple of nights while they visit Ankor Wat however I think I stayed long enough to sample and problems there may have been.
The staff were incredibly friendly and could not do enough to help.
Rooms were clean and spacious and beds very comfy.
The pool is small however it's salt water and just the right temperature and size.
Use the tuk tuk drivers outside and they will take you anywhere for a good price. Expect to pay $12 a day. Location wise it is far enough away from the town so as not to be disturbed but only a 10 minute walk or $1 ride away.
Food was good and cocktails great.
One word of advice though take lots of insect repellant!

Room Tip: Pool side rooms are a bit lighter but you will need your curtains closed as people can walk straight...

Positive:

- Very good location, next to the city center, on the way to Angkor site and in a quiet position
- Very relaxing facilities
- Very comfortable and clean rooms (made up twice a day)
- Very friendly and helpfull staff and good service
- Excellent food (especially breakfast... if you dare try Bor Bor)
- Pictures of the official site perfectly reflect the place

Negative:

- the staff arranged for us a trasportation to Thai border by privat car, but the car was smelly and the driving style was really dangerous, also for Cambodian standard. Actually, the driver and the car did not belong to the hotel. Considering the great service of the hotel they made sure of the quality of this external service

I know Cambodja can be tricky in order to find a great hotel, but the FCC did not meet my expectations after having read the ratings in trip advisor. Many rooms are around the pool. Sounds nice, but it forces you to always have closed the curtains if you wat to preserve your privacy. When we arrived, the air conditioning was not working. Thy worked on it, and it worked but broke again at 02:00 AM. A terrible night. We claimed again and they finally repaired it. When we arrived, no towels were at the room also. We went for breakfast and asked for a table at a non smoking área (we have 3 kids). We saw 2 japanese people smoking. We mentioned it but waited until they finished their cigarette. Since they lit another one, I complained to the waitresses who took a long time to take the decisión to move them to a smoking área. They should have acted before! Drawers and cupboards doors were half broken, not matching. The girl at the reception, though was so perfect! Great english, very useful, a jewel. Frankly speking, I think it is overrated.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not have a view to the pool

This hotel is good, which it has limited guest room. Therefore, it is low density and the entire environment is exclusive and peaceful.

The room is clean and well facilitated. It comes with Wifi too.
They come with many TV channel too which you could hang around for whole day

The salt water pool is definite clean

The breakfast serve with local and international style from 4:30am onward. It is ala carte style but you can request again if it isn't enough

The hotel is located at very strategic place, you could have a walking distance to many restaurants nearby. At night if you are walking alone, it is still safe

Room Tip: value of money!

Would recommend the FCC. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. The massages were great in the spa and the food of good standard. It was walking distance or a short tuk tuk ride to the markets or bars if you want to eat out. Rooms were modern and clean although the mattresses were rather firm.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the pool or an upstairs room.

The FCC Angkor did a number of things very well:

Welcome us and offer us an excellent rate: we hadn’t initially chosen to stay at the FCC Angkor, but were disappointed with our initial choice of hotel and decided to change. We couldn’t have been happier. They offered us a very favorable rate for our suite and went out of their way to welcome us.

The room: the room was spacious and very comfortable. We stayed on the ground level overlooking the pool courtyard, which was very convenient.

Breakfast: my favourite hotel breakfast of our trip. Lovely staff at the restaurant, very good coffee (no small thing, in my world), a delicious selection of fresh fruits and many other things besides. Hotel breakfasts are often disappointing. Not at the FCC!

The spa: the spa was a treat. We had two treatments there and both were excellent. The massage therapists were very professional and exceptionally good. They offered discounted rates of you booked your treatments outside peak times. My only gripe was with the glacial airconditioning in the treatment rooms. The therapists seemed puzzled that I would want them to turn the AC off, but were very obliging.

All in all we loved our stay at the FCC Angkor. I recommend it without reservation. Be sure to visit the boutique stores at the front of the hotel for some of the best (and more unusual) shopping in Siem Reap.

Room Tip: If you enjoy more privacy I would suggest taking a room on the upper level, as the rooms on the grou...

The hotel is located a bit away from the center of the city but the room was amazing! Very clean and pretty. The staff there were also great giving us a comfortable stay. We were able to enjoy shopping since there were boutiques connected too.
