“Excellent small hotel with incredibly friendly and helpful staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed at the Seda Villa in Siem Reap for two nights to visit the temples. We has a very positive experience and felt that we were getting genuine Cambodian hospitality. We ended up relying on the owner Sam for a lot, and he was incredibly helpful, organising a two day bike tour for us, helping us to get our washing done cheaply, and generally making our stay as comfortable as possible.

The Seda Villa is more a guest house than a hotel, but was one of the best places we have stayed in on a 5 week tour of Asia. The rooms (pink and yellow) were very comfortable, the pool nice and refreshing, the breakfasts big enough to satisfy some demanding appetites, the internet was good and the service was very friendly. To give you an example, Sam had figured out from our passports that it was my son's birthday on our second day there, and a cake with his name on magically appeared at tea time.

We had 48 hours to see the temples, and with very little notice, Sam organised a cycling guide and some bikes for us. It was a great experience and really good value. We rode around 20km each day and saw most of the temples including some that were hidden down jungle paths, and cycled on the top of the wall of Angkor Thom - an amazing experience.

All in all highly recommended, a lovely place with a personal touch in a town that seems to be being overrun by sprawling, impersonal hotels.

Completely satisfactory, truly a home away from home. Caring and welcoming staff received us after the long taxi/train/tuk-tuk/shuttle-bus/minibus ride from Bangkok, catered to all our needs during our stay at Seda Villa and made sure the first phase of our return trip also went smoothly. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Look for the rooms with "outside views" - the others have windows but may overlook backyar...

We stayed at thi place for 4 nights. It was an unforgetable vacation at Siem Reap Angkor. The small fine hotel with nice pool and view, very friendly staff, good breakfast, clean room, especially great location easy to access to city old market, pub street (five minute walking) but quiet and homey feeling. The owner, Sam is very helpful informative. Thanks for great hospitality and will recommend our friends!

We stayed in this hotel 1st to 3rd August. What a fantastic find this hotel was. Firstly it's in a great location, easy to walk into town or get a tuk tuk. The rooms are really lovely and clean with comfy beds and toiletries. However what is best about this place is the staff. They are all so attentive and kind. We messaged them on facebook from Bangkok to tell them our arrival time and there was a driver waiting for us. The staff had already arranged a tuk tuk for the next day to take us around Angkor Wat. I would highly recommend this hotel. Thanks for an amazing stay, just wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Any one of the six rooms are lovely.

My wife and I stayed at The Seda Villa hotel for 3 nights during our visit to Siem Reap. The hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes away from the old market, but across the river, which provides a more quiet location at night. Everything you need relative to dinning, massages or even if you plan to visit Artisans d'Angkor is within a 5-10 minute walk. They have a free airport transfer service, so make sure you send them an email in advance with your flight details so they can pick you up.

The Seda Villa is a small family-run boutique hotel with only 6 rooms. We stayed at the Orange room (the cheapest). It was quite spacious and very clean. The bed was big (king size), though the pillows are a bit hard if you are used to feathery ones. It has a nice swimming pool to relax after visiting the temples (provided that it is not raining). It is not huge but does the deal.

Breakfast was included. They had 3 options: American, Continental and Vietnamese. We tried the American one on the first day. It was just ok. The following two days we went for the Vietnamese one which was proportionally better (if you don't mind having noodles or rice for breakfast). All breakfast options bring tea/coffee, juice and a fruit platter.

The best is the staff. They are particularly attentive and helpful. They recommended a few restaurants of which we tried one (Khmer Kitchen) just across the old market. It turned out to be excellent and good value for money compared to all others we tried. We also arranged the 3-day tuk tuk through them. They explained from the beginning it was was a slightly more expensive than bargaining outside but that would ensure we got a good service (there are some scams going around: tuk tuks taking tourists up to the gate to buy tickets and thereafter asking for more money to continue the trip). They also mentioned the hotel does not make a margin on the tuk tuk. We paid the driver directly. We were very happy with our tuk tuk driver who was very attentive and open to our change of plans. He also gave us complimentary cold water bottles after every temple visit.

On our last day we finished visiting by lunch time and had a late night flight (21:25). We were able to use the swimming pool and facilities all afternoon even though we had already checked out. Even when things go wrong they are ready to find a quick solution. Our tuk tuk driver failed to arrive to pick us up to take us to the airport on the last night due to a misunderstanding. The owner took us personally in his own car to the airport, which was very nice of him to ensure we did not arrive late to our flight.

If you are looking for a hotel within a reasonable price range but not luxurious and want a good location, don't hesitate. This is your choice. I am sure you won't regret it.

We stayed in two rooms which were both really nice, spacious and simple but not basic (although the bath/shower in the Yellow room was prone to flooding).
Staff were incredibly friendly and Sam the owner made sure he introduced himself but we only saw him the once. They can book all your onward travel or activities which is really useful, although the morning staff member during our stay either wasn't very confident or new or his English was poor as it was a bit of a struggle to get our bus booked but we did get there in the end.
Breakfast was good and with plenty of food and the early morning packed breakfast we received was also decent.
I would definitely recommend this place to couples, families or small groups of mates looking to chill out.

Room Tip: Blue room is great!
