While I wouldn't recommend making a special trip to see this structure, it's certainly worth stopping for a visit if you're already in Angkor Thom.

It's located right next to Baphuon and the Terrace of the Elephants, making it very easy to get to, but since it isn't really one of the main attractions there are no crowds -- always a plus! It's somewhat of a steep climb to the top, but quite do-able.

Located in front of the one-time place, this temple is not especially impressive in its carvings or its relatively small area, however, it is one of the taller free-standing temples, requiring a significant set of stairs to get to the top. It is also located further from the road meaning there are relatively few tourists and less of a crowd. If you are already exploring the Angkor Thom complex it is probably worth your while to stick your head in here.

The temple/royal palace looks OK from the road but it is largely in ruins with no worthwhile surviving detailed sculpture. Built in pyramid style.

Save your time to look at Elephant Terrace

A peaceful diversion from the many temples around, it does not see the usual flock of tourists.
There's not much left of the original temple and a steep climb will give you good memories.
Don't spend too much time here, it's not worth it.

Impressive laterite and sandstone pyramid.lacking surviving carvings leaves it artistically uninteresting, but its great for an early morning scramble, providing a nice view from the top.
The western staircase is the most scalable. Its at the back. Phimeanakas is located inside the ancient Royal Palace compound and served as the king's temple. Legend has it,that the golden tower that crowned the temple was inhabited by a serpent, which would transform into a woman. Hey, i am all ears now!! the kings of Angkor were required to make love with the serpent every night, lest disaster befalls him or the kingdom.
Just the thought of this devotional conscription, makes me dream of coiled snake- woman. In this oppressive heat, dreaming comes easy.
