Not the Hilton but excellent in Cambodian mid range hotels. Firstly the hotel was once grand but now a little tired and maybe a few too many handy man repairs. The shower we had was a spar bath with a hand set, so you had to sit down for a shower. There was no safe in the room we had and the bed was quite firm but the air conditioner worked well and it had a small size house fridge in the room. The room was large and cleaned daily. The hotel pool is super clean and salt water. The hotel has a gym on the ground floor near the pool. Massages are also offered and when myself and my wife went to use the service it took some time to organise but glad we did. 1 hour full body massage was $7 US and it was excellent. There is free wifi in the hotel but a little slow within the room and faster when sitting on the balcony. The hotel offers a laundry service which I used and found to be super cheap. The breakfast is a little dull but compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Cambodia, it was more than adequate and really quite good. The hotel has a lift that works and access for wheel chair bound visitors is good as ramps have been installed. The hotel seems to have quite a few service personnel so cleanliness was good. The staff were always pleasant and friendly plus we had no problems speaking English and been understood. The hotel is a little tired but everything worked from the TV to the power points. It's location is approx 2 k's from town and the markets but for $2 US a tuk tuk is straight out the front and will to take you anywhere in the city centre. We slept well each night we were there. I would recommend this hotel to people that aren't seeking the night life.adventure of Siem Reap but looking for value for money accommodation close to attractions but far enough away to be quiet at night. I would stay there again when in Siem Reap.

Room Tip: Most rooms are the same but the rooms closer to the pool can be noisy through the day from the pool...

Overall this hotel is ok. A little way away from the night life and markets (about a 40 minute walk) but plenty of tut tuts around which cost 3$ each way. Overall we found the hotel to be clean, great lift, large room and very nice pool (towels always available when we wanted them). Downside for us was the restaurant and breakfast - food left uncovered (lots of flies around). Good laundry service though at 2$ per kilo.

Don't come expecting a new shiny hotel with all the modern bells and whistles. We though left very happy - the staff are great - breakfast was wonderful ( a buffet that kept my 4 sons happy), pool was clean, air-con worked, TV worked - all round very happy.

Recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on an intrepid tour. Hotel in a good location about a 25min walked from pub street and the market. That and the pancakes at breakfast were just about the only good things. Rooms were not very clean, linen was dirty, there was a family of cockroaches living in our bathroom. But what has made me write this review was the staff. Unfriendly, unapproachable, when you asked for simple requests were like the end of the world (we had to ask 3 times for more pool towels and it took 1hr to get them). There were two older men at the desk who appeared to have issues being spoken to by a women! It made for a very uncomfortable stay.

Yes I enjoyed my two night stay in this hotel on my Intrepid tour. Though the rooms are not large and spacious they are well maintained and clean. The bed was comfortable and I had a nice sleep after the long journey from Bangkok. The entrance is spacious with nice seating and it sits back from the highway. Its within easy walking to shops banks and a market for all your needs .
Hotel staff all all very helpful and friendly with lots of smiles. They even run a laundry service which is quick.
A very good hotel to stay and to visit the temples of Angkor. Ian

Room Tip: I had a back room which was quieter than the front as it is on a highway

My husband and I stayed here in January, and our stay was decidedly average. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as my husband had tried a bit of the breakfast the first morning we were there and wasn't keen on it. There is a rather nice little café across the road and a few doors to the right that did fantastic (incredibly filling) omelettes and baguettes for breakfast so we went there. We did use the laundrette across the street from the hotel, as it was cheaper than the hotel (plus it was ready and waiting for us after a day exploring the temples).

The only highlights of the hotel that I can remember was that the restaurant staff were willing to help you out, no matter what. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant one evening, and it was packed. The waiter who saw us looking a little lost went and set up a table for us then and there, and was apologetic that it may take a while for our food.

The downside was the reception staff. I went to pick up our room key one evening, and had to wait for two reception staff to finish dealing with one customer - one was sorting out her laundry and getting her room key for her, the other finished dealing with his customer and decided he would try to chat her up.

We probably won't go back to the Freedom Hotel.
