it is in a very centre of Siem reap and a perfect location if you want to enjoy the night life.
Room is very nice and clean as well.
Hotel itself locates rather quite area but you can just walk night merket and high street. it will be great if you go there with friends, low budget or for a short stay.

As noted in most other reviews, the Steung Siem Reap has a great location. It is seconds away from the Old Market and the numerous restaurants and shops in Siem Reap. As Siem Reap is reasonably compact it is easy to explore the centre of town on foot.

The hotel itself is a wee tired but reasonably clean and the rooms are pretty quiet. Be warned though we found the beds a bit hard and uncomfortable.

Service and pool were fine but we actually found the hotel restaurant - which we ate in the first night because we were exhausted and had just flown in from Hanoi - was actually very good. It was probably the best fish amok I had on our two week trip through Cambodia where I think I had fish amok every third night! The breakfast buffet is pretty standard though.

The prices are pretty good as well and we would happily stay their again if we visit Siem Reap (which we really enjoyed) again.

My wife had the in house massage and was not all that impressed with it. She raved about the massage across the road at Devatara Spa. The in-house laundry is also a bit pricey and we used the Old Market Laundry in the lane across from the hotel and they did a fabulous job on our clothes. They even cleaned my sons' shoes which were filthy from the Quad Tour!

Steung Siem Reap is my number one choice of hotel in Siem Reap. Not only does it have the best location, it also has wonderful staff, a great breakfast and fabulous pool. The rooms were spotless and the staff always ready to help or sort out any problems we may have had.
Even though the streets were flooded for most of our stay it was not a problem, the friendly staff made a joke of us staying at their 'floating Hotel" and offered us a boat to go to market in. We found it just added to the fun! No-one seemed to worry about the fact that while sitting in a restaurant a tidal wave came in each time a car passed. In the end we just went along with the joke, donned out 'thongs" and waded out to dinner.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be good, but the higher the better as it gives a better view.

I stayed in the Steung for 3 months....you CANNOT get a better hotel, location wise, for any and all sightseeing you will do, nor entertainment... Old Market,, less than a 10 second walk, Pub Street, where you WILL go out for dinner, and or drinks..., bout a 60 second walk,... there is a supermarket/grocery store/ department store, for all your western needs about 30 seconds from the front door.... The best legitimate massage in town, is directly across the street...Fell like relaxing in the morning, about 30 seconds to Central coffee shop ...Music lovers, the Laundry Bar is right next to the massage place...After the temples, there is really no reason for a Tuk tuk driver,at night unless you want to explore some of the restaurants down Sivantha road, but you could easily walk to a few of the nice ones in less than 15 minutes.., Nigh tMarket less than a 10 minutes walk....Tuk tuk drivers are always out front ,starting from about 530am, so you get to the temples early.... the staff will book you taxis and limos to some of the further away temples( Bantey Shray Landmine Museum, etc) and all day excursions with very short notice...( you really dont want a tuk tuk to take you that far).. One of the best hotel breakfasts in town, catering to both asian and western tastes... rooms are quite big, and plenty of room to stow any excess luggage...double closet, smaller closet, safe, two chairs with a table in the room etc,, Balconies are in just about every room... TV has a lot of English language channels, and 18 other languages if you need it... my room was kept very clean. Staff was always courteous, polite, and helpful...Huge king sized bed with 4 pillows!!! .No idea waht that previous poster was talking about..BTW the breakfast staff is wonderful .. I felt like I was greeted by family every morning.....and the common areas are kept immaculately .... Are there more swank hotels in town?, yes, of course there are, but this is in every way a good value, and nice place to stay ......way way way above the guest house level, and well worth the money...location, location, location!!! btw i never used the gym, but it's there, and nothing at all wrong with it.. and the pool is awesome.. very peacfull

Room Tip: ask for a room looking to the front of the hotel...

This is a cracking hotel in the middle of Siem Reap - i.e. perhaps not the geographical "middle", but next to all of the restaurants (excepting the excellent Touich), bars and the Night Market. In other words, next to everything that you should see!

Good hotel with good facilities and service. Nice breakfast in the morning and a pool.

Great base for all of the Angkor sites
